For the Utata Project: Interiors

This little scene is what made me want to live in this house. We were driving by one day, looking for a new home. I peered into the front window and saw this scene, minus the shoes.

I knew I wanted to live here.

I love that the children's shoes are always there... ready to play, waiting for feet to hop in. They make me happy. The house is over 80 years old... sometimes I wonder what other little feet have run up and down the stairs that my children inhabit daily.

10 Things: Our apartment on Hardwick Street in Cambridge. I am going to miss this house so much.

We are almost gone -- just one more night (sleeping on the floor!) and we'll be on our way! This morning we had help loading the truck with all our stuff and despite several days of worry over whether it would all fit (we got the smallest size vehicle you can get for an out of town move) as things started to pile up in the living room, everything made it inside with room to spare. Thank goodness, because I don't know what else we could have gotten rid of. I feel like we've given away enough to build an entire life.

Next time I say hello it will be from Chicagoland. I love you guys. Wish us luck!

10 Things:

The girls in my life...

[How cool is that I managed to get Venus in the photo? (see note)]

Ero indecisa se inserirla come una delle 10things o come Lookbook... Ma ho deciso che per il 10things ne scatterò un'altra!! =) ghghgh finalmente è arrivataaaaaaaaaaa :D La mia bellissima maglietta tutta KOALA!!!! *_* Quanto l'ho aspettata?!?!!? ghghgh felicefelicefelicefelice!!!

Here is the Kooky Creature I made from Zak's pattern.

~The Secret Life of Toys~

There he was... with his back to the wall... trying to look all coy and innocent... but I knew full well what he was hiding behind his back!!!

~I've Kept It All These Years~

My husbands sweater, that I recycled to create Kooky (as Zakky named him).

~:10 Things~

It makes my heart happy when I make something for Zak and he hides it in his special drawer in his bedroom (the one his little brother cannot get into {yet}). Only the best of the best (in his opinion), makes it into that drawer!

#8: Coty Airspun Powder - it is light and translucent. It comes in this fab little jar. And it smells so soft, so powdery, like my great grandmother. And I don't mind that at all (as long as I am the only one who associates its smell with that!)

#9: Levi's loud shirt. I love that my dad gave it to him, and that Levi was brave enough to wear it (in jest). I loudly told everyone that I did not buy it for him.

10 Things:

Sunny days. Sun rooms. Natural lighting. Ornate architecture.

#9. Bowling with friends at Rock'it Lanes.

[Genoa, Castelnuovo. Italy. May 2010.]

1) Classic shot <3 Poppy.

2) Kubrick's exhibition.

3) Kid'n'alley.

4) Meeting old milanese friend.

5) Country house.

6) Experiment on the beach by night.

7) Unexpected morning.

8) Concert.

9) Rose syrup. (this roses..)

10) On my mountains.

I'm sure there are plenty more, but these were the first 10 that came to mind this morning.

I decided to list them below in alphabetical order. There's no way I could order them into the order of who I like best, they're all such wonderful people!!

Ben - I've known Ben for nearly two years now. We have always got on really well, and he never ceases to make me laugh.

Danielle - Well, what else do I need to say other than she's my bestest, best friend and I've known her since I was 2 :) When I'm with her we're doubled over laughing soo much! I love her to bits!! :)

David - I've David for about 3 years. While it's true that just about all he talks about is cars (which isn't really my thing) we get on really well. We have a lot of laughs :)

Elise - I've only known Elise, and the rest of her family, for 7 months, but we're really good friends :) We have the same interests, and we're never short of laughter! :)

Emma - Emma is one of those people who's really hard not to like (in my opinion anyway). We always have fun when we get together :)

James - Emma younger brother. James always makes everyone laugh, and he's great for a discussion! I have the most interesting discussions with him, Emma, and their sister Sarah.

Jared - Elise's older brother. It never ceases to amaze me how well I get on with this whole family!! Jared always makes me laugh (he does a great 'Catherine Tate' :)), and he's great to discuss things with too :)

Keeghan - Elise and Jared's little brother. Keeghan is one of those people that I probably wouldn't have got to know if he wasn't the bro of a good friend. But I'm glad he is because if I didn't know him I'd be missing out on an awful lot!!! :)

Nigel - Nigel is my drama teacher. I really enjoy his company for lots of reasons. Number one is of course that he makes everybody laugh! Not just me, everybody! :) He's a real motivator for me, and is really helpful with so many things!

Sarah - Emma and James' little sister. While Sarah may be short, she's certainly got a great personality! as I mentioned, I love my discussions with this family, and without Sarah tehy wouldn't be the same!

well, I love all these people! :)

They're all fabulous people, and fabulous friends!

oh hell...I just realised most of these are guys...

oops lol :) nah, I don't care really - if you ask me, guys are just as much fun as girls :) You just talk about different stuff :)

Look out! Look out!

Pink elephants on parade

Here they come!

Hippety hoppety

They're here and there

Pink elephants ev'rywhere

Look out! Look out!

They're walking around the bed

On their head

Clippety cloppety

Arrayed in braid

Pink elephants on parade

What'll I do? What'll I do?

What an unusual view!

I could stand the sight of worms

And look at microscopic germs

But technicolor pachyderms

Is really much for me

I am not the type to faint

When things are odd or things

are quaint

But seeing things you know that ain't

Can certainly give you an awful fright!

What a sight!

Chase 'em away!

Chase 'em away!

I'm afraid need your aid

Pink elephants on parade!

Pink elephants!

Pink elephants!

#5: My Pink Elephant Watering Can:

If I have to explain it to you, you wouldn't understand.

I was tagged by Michelle, M Leigh Photography to tell you ten things about myself you may not know!

1) When I was in school, people called me: "Bookworm Beth, Librarian's Pet". Kids will find a way to tease you for the stupidest things!

2) I never intended to stay in the beauty industry 20 years...I was going to undergrad in English then go to law school!

3) Elle is a nickname (my birth name is Elizabeth) given to me 8 years ago because of the movie Legally Blonde.

4) I hand crank pasta w homemade sauce on Sundays in the winter.

5) I don't care if I'm "cool" or not. I love being a complete geek with my 9 year old daughter!

6) I aspire to be a crazy old lady...that wears leopard coats, high heels, lipstick that is too bright, & tells crazy stories about when I was young. Oh man, I already do this!

7) I have worn nothing shorter than a 3" heel on a daily basis for the past 21 years!

8) I am suspicious of people who do not like animals but can't tell me why they don't.

9) I have this strange habit of pulling up to a red light & thinking it's a 4 way stop, then turning left on red.

10) I am a generally happy-go-lucky gal!

Thank you Michelle! I don't know who to tag yet since I only have 2 friends!!! But I will tag my new ones!

xoxo~elle

The motion of the photo makes me happy every time I see it. I love the colors and the light. And although I get frustrated at the fact he is pulling on my shears, it makes me the happiest that he is exploring the world around him and that, THAT is making him happy!

I saw this snowman on Russ's porch and just had to take his picture. Couldn't get him to sign a model release...said he had to go.

Yes, those are snowman eggs that he laid himself.

Note to Russ's family - use one raisin per eye....two looks wierd.

10 things I'm grateful for...snow!

Amo questi colori, questi contrasti...

Una sfera di fuoco che si immerge nel caos della città.

Uno sguardo intenso che si perde verso il cielo.

Un riflesso nei nostri occhi.

Un'emozione condivisa.

Un sintomo della felicità.

1) I love baloons.

2) I can't conceptualize how other people see me and feel invisible the majority of the time. I'm always surprised and grateful when people tag me, comment, etc.

3) I am that crazy doll, knitting, cat lady.

My list was unbearably sad, so I will attempt to finish this another time. This photo is even sad. It's just exhaustion from cumulative loss, but things are working themselves out and it feels good to process them. Soon, I will be able to let go and I am on the cusp of many exciting projects.

Tags on the side! I love reading all of them though, so everyone should do it!

8 – The best movies & TV shows... seen on a computer!

... and that's what has happened in between only 11 days.

a wonderful and relaxing holidays in the black forest +++ my birthday, with cakes, gifts and a girdle of flowers +++ a wonderful weekend together with friends +++ the move-in of trillian and that the twins don't hate her +++ the first days of spring...finally!

...and the fact that he asked me to marry him. and I said yes.

i had the prosciutto di parma, arugula and grana padano with 12 years old balsamic vinegar and 3 cheeses on the side. i'm unsure of the cheeses, but the dippings - yum! pumpkin ginger compote, date walnut cake, and acacia honey.

of course, i could just eat bread dipped in olive oil for the rest of my life.

I thought I'd join the fun and tell you ten random things about me:

1. I always have my Christmas decoration up until January 6 - it's a tradition.

2. Unravelling was my first e-course. I took a short photography class at the local learning center two years ago. The only thing I remember from that is how to take night shots. A big plus was that I met two photo buddies there and we'll go on photo safaris every now and then.

3. The craziest thing I've ever eaten were roasted ants.

4. I don't like escalators.

5. I never learned how to drive a car.

6. I was born on a Ash Wednesday.

7. So far I've lived in 6 different towns and 3 different countries (including Germany).

8. I have a M.A. in history but I never really worked in that field.

9. I never broke a bone or spent the night in the hospital.

10. I have always warm hands.

#4. Dark Chocolate

Tagged by tru.

Another list of 10 things which may or may not be of interest to anyone.

1: I'm a huge fan of English comedies like Spaced, The Office (NOT the U.S. version), Extras, and most recently, The Thick Of It.

2: I've had a number of unusual pets, including a black widow spider, a rat, a praying mantis and a stick insect.

3: I've travelled to Mexico and Canada, but have never been anywhere outstide of North America. (This has everything to do with economics and nothing to do with a lack of desire to see the world.)

4: I'm addicted to audiobooks. I listen during my drive to work, while editing photos and every night as I fall asleep. I've spent a small fortune on Audible.com.

5: I swear like a sailor with Tourette syndrome. "For f@#$'s sake" is a favorite. (See shows listed in item #1, especially The Thick Of It, for great examples of how to swear properly.)

6: I have the sleep cycle of a vampire, yet I have to leave by 7am to get to work on time. As you might imagine, I often don't get enough sleep.

7: I am not the least bit superstitious.

8: During the winter months I drink copious amounts of hot chocolate.

9: As I mentioned in my previous 10 things list, I love movies and music, so I'm a sucker for film scores. At the moment I'm listening to the Moon score. It's a fantastic film that everyone should see.

10: I once worked at a music store. It was not even 1% as cool as I thought it would be.
