Hamamelis is a winter-flowering shrub, commonly known as witch hazel. Its spicy fragrance and spidery flowers in yellow, orange and reds make it a must for the winter garden.
A quick visit to Redhill and we saw a good variety of Butterflies, was nice to see this little Common blue
Our pet tarantula, Harry, molted the other day. Being about 18 years old, she only molts once a year, now. When tarantulas molt, their outer skin splits open along the back and entirely new spider craws out, albeit slightly larger. They even leave behind all their hair and teeth!
That tooth is darn near a half inch long!

Picture for the MacroMondays theme on Jan. 24th 2011: Imagination
Shooting the photo of landscape, cityscape or people, I would imagine the framing, lighting, colors and timing in advance by collecting all kinds of information. The reason why I love to shoot macro or super macro, just because there is always something beyond imagination. Like the sundew, the study in advance did not cover all of the wonders in this photo. In the Macro world, there is always something beyond imagination. Happy Macro Mondays!
