Three shots of the Common Blue Butterfly, and there were a few of them flying around. Was pleased to get an open wing shot too to show off the lovely colours.
It is a small deciduous tree growing to 10–15 m tall with a trunk up to 40 cm in diameter, though usually smaller and often with multiple trunks, and a spreading crown of long, arching branches. The bark is smooth, olive-green with regular narrow pale vertical stripes on young trees, eventually becoming dull grey-brown at the base of old trees. The leaves are 6–18 cm long and 4–9 cm broad, with a petiole 3–6 cm long; they are dark green above, paler below, ovate, unlobed or weakly three-lobed, with a serrated margin. They turn to bright yellow, orange or red in the autumn. The flowers are small, yellow, with five sepals and petals about 4 mm long; they are produced on arching to pendulous 7–12 cm racemes in late spring, with male and female flowers on different racemes. The samara nutlets are 7–10 mm long and 4–6 mm broad, with a wing 2–3 cm long and 5 mm broad.

The Juicy Salif, citrus-squeezer by Alessi. Designed by Philippe Starck.
----------
Strobist info: I used a 430EX through a white Ikea Skubb laundry bag as a soft box camera right. A white paper was held as a fill reflector to the left of the citrus squeezer. The flash was triggered with a ST-E2.

It's been snowing / raining all day, and I wanted to take some photos. Perhaps a good time to take some gear shots.
Here's the Canon 350D with the 100 f/2.8 Macro USM mounted. This is the new kid on the block, my latest lens. Can't wait to play around with this one.
Strobist information: One 430EX with a shoot through umbrella on camera left, and a second snooted 430EX on camera left bouncing via a white reflector on camera right. Both triggered with a ST-E2.
Tamarisk is an invasive shrub or small tree that is found across the American West. Also known as saltcedar.
Spotted this old shot while looking through some photos. Not the best shot, but I like the colors and DOF.

Size comparison between the EF 50mm f/1.8 II, EF 50mm f/1.4 USM and EF 85mm f/1.8 USM
As I had set everything up for this shot, I wanted to do a size comparison between the the 50mm:s and the 85mm lens.
The 50 1.4 and 85 1.8 has quite similar build quality, but as you can see the 85 1.8, even though it is 2/3 f-stop slower, has a lot more glass.
Strobist information:
Two Canon Speedlite 430EX used in a Lastolite Ezybox Hotshoe (60cm) soft box each. One camera right and a little bit higher as fill, and the other camera left. I was moving around the camera right soft box until I had the right light in the lenses. Everything triggered by Elinchrom Skyports.

A shot of a Iittala beer glass with some beer in it :) Does it make you thirsty?
Strobist info: A translucent reflector behind with a 430EX at 1/2 shooting through a white shoot through umbrella to get the background light as even as possible. A second 430EX high to the right of the glass zoomed to 105mm at 1/32 to light the foam. A white paper underneath glass from a photo frame below the glass.

Shot in southern Anza-Borrego Desert State Park. There were large patches of Lupine here, and a few other species thrown in for good measure.

A product shot of a red Parmenide (parmesan cheese grater), designed by Alejandro Ruiz for Alessi.
I just took "delivery" of a DIY (more correct to call it CDI (Cricce Did It)) soft box, and wanted to try it out. At the same time I wanted to try out some techniques that I've read about in Light - Science & Magic.
----------
Strobist info:
A 430EX with a DIY honeycomb gridded snoot lit the red plastic from one side. Another 430EX in a large soft box was placed within the Family of Angels for the grating plate of metal. Both were triggered with Elinchrom Skyport receivers. A setup photo (my first ever) can be seen here.
