Gebhard actually came and introduced himself on a beach in Mexico where we were camping.

He and his wife were traveling from Germany in a truckcamper they had shipped from there.

He said that once he and his wife retired “we have nothing but time so why not travel?”

He went on to say they have driven through Morocco, Uruguay and Mexico and have plans to drive most of North America.

I asked him if he wouldn't mind being in my 100 stranger project and he smiled a large smile and agreed.

It took me a couple of minutes to grab my 70-200 mm f4 lens. It had a polarizing filter already on it but the sun was bright so I thought it would work to cut the glare.

I had Gebhard stand with the morning sun behind him while his wife held the 32 inch silver reflector to bounce back some of the light.

I didn't have much time to fuss with the setup but in retrospect the photo would've probably turned out better if I had him stand in the shade.

I wish safe and happy travels to Gebhard and his wife.

I was in a back alley near Melbourne Central, photographing graffiti when these guys came out one of the doors - they seemed quite jovial so I asked if I could take their photo - they were pretty enthusiastic and gave me a series of funny poses

meah is one of my friends from grad school and one of the most talented, inspiring people i know. a few of us were lucky enough to shoot her yesterday. it was a blast. thanks again meah...many more pics coming soon. :)

During our 100 strangers meet up, I mentioned that I did not have many portraits of ladies. Barbara had the opposite in that she hadn't got many pictures of guys. So the guys in the group challenged us to put this right and were a great help.

Colin (aka Bomvu) was brilliant in that he held me to account. The first lady I approached was on her way to work and so kindly rejected my offer. By the time I saw Ivane and her friend Julie in Spitalfields market, Colin saw me hesitating and said something to the effect, "you know you have to". That was all I needed, I explained the project to them and they both agreed to having a few shots taken.

This was the first time I had used a reflector (thanks Colin), and this was the final shot. Ivane is from France and has Mauritian blood in her (I can't remember whether it was her mother or father). Both her and Julie work in a bar near the area.

This is stranger no 15 in my project, thank you Ivane for being a part of it. Find out more about the project and see pictures taken by other photographers at the

Saoussen is a friend of Slimani (my stranger #60), and is also a French Au Pair working in London and was visiting Cambridge to see the sights when I met her. She is from Nice and has a degree in Management. She plans to continue her studies when she returns to Fance.

The cold/flu persisted so I spent the day eating - "feed a cold and starve the fever" - as my Gran used to say. I felt improved, so I went down to the Glebe in Stoke to see local band "The King's Pistol". Picture taken in the pub's mirror of folks watching the band.

here I am, hiding from myself again.

100 days! wow, can't believe I made it. 100 days in a row (more or less) taking a photo of myself. I never imagined I'd embark on such a journey.

in November 2010 me and Robyn began living together and a whole new chapter of my life began. after living in a small apartment by myself for 5 years...this was quite a change. also worth mentioning is Robyn comes with a ten year old son. I tell you all this because along with a change in living situation, I changed my creative focus.

when I was living alone, I was all about my music. I spent the last two years creating my definitive musical album. it was my fourth such effort and I really feel like it is my best work to date. when I completed the album I put it on the internet for people to download for free, and that was that...nope, still not a rockstar. I'm just a drop of water in an endless ocean of recorded music downloaded daily onto the internet. I'm getting too old now to keep setting myself up for the heartbreak of pouring myself into something that no one pays attention to. there is still love in my heart for making music, but for now I'm done trying to be a rockstar.

enter photography...when I was a teenager my dad gave me his old Minota 35mm camera and I took a photo class at my jr. high school. my teacher, Mr. Hyndman, saw something in me and really encouraged me to keep taking photos. which I did all through high school. after I graduated, I no longer had access to a darkroom and so my passion for photography was lost for awhile. in 2003 I got my first digital camera and bang! I was back on the wagon...taking tons of photos. I loved it, but I had no audience and my hard drive filled up quickly. once again, my passion started to wane and I all but stopped.

so now, here I am, new living situation, done with music projects for awhile...I needed to do something. I've had this Flickr account for quite awhile but wasn't really doing much with it. I decided to go Pro. quickly I found the 365 project. it seemed like quite a challenge, but the photos from the group looked like a lot of fun. I decided to take the plunge. I thought for sure I would have given up before now, but here I am...day 100! I certainly wouldn't have made it without the comments and support of the Flickr community and the friends I've made on here.

over the course of this project I have become a much better photographer and my passion has been re-ignighted. seeing your photos inspires me more that I can tell you. thank you all so much for viewing my photos and leaving me comments! here's to another 265 days! (whoa, that seems like a lot!) cheers!
