These boaters sure know where to spend a wonderful summer evening.

View(s) from my brother Bret's home. Always nice to visit here.
Thanks for your visit and for any remarks, faves or suggestions!
It's snowy and gloomy outside. The old photos only make me remember the life in color now:-) Here's one of the macros of the recent summer.
Thank you for all the comments and favs, my friends.
While I've got lots of celand photos to post, I thought it would be good to post a church in Easter Sunday. Iceland has lots of these little churches, almost every settleent has one.The weather was terrible on the day I took this (I now understand what fuels all the waterfalls!) hence the choice of the long exposure.

From a geological standpoint, Iceland is a very young country, still in the midst of its own creation.
This is an Aluminum statue of Maximilian Graf von (Count) Montgelas located on the Promenadeplatz square in Munich.
The 6 m tall statue was made in 2005 by Karin Sander. She digitized pictures of the count, then calculated the shape. Finally the statue was CNC machined from Aluminum, the weight is about 9 metric tons.

This royal Renaissance castle was founded in 1549 by Gustav I (or Gustav Vasa as he is generally called in Sweden), but not finished until the early 17th century.
The foothills of the mountains in the Southern Lakes are covered in trees. The acid soils and humid conditions encourage ferns and moss, sessile oaks and the most wonderful beech trees, many of which are copper beech. Holly, rowan and hazel grow here too - the perfect environment for wildlife. Bird song everywhere - just magic. Red squirrels also abide here, unseen (by me, quiet as I was), as they are small and quick.
We even had a pair of nuthatches visit our bird feeder. They became used to me, coming out for the special food I put out for them. They were raising families of course, and so their food was rich in protein. Not cheap, but worth it !
Taken from the top of our 'holiday retreat' path one morning. The light was so lovely.
Thank you as always for your kind comments, faves and invites - hope you feel inspired to visit this wonderful place.

A prosperous establishment of the early 1870's, with an elegant Mansard roof, small tower and iron grillwork. Sign of the growth associated with the construction of the Third Welland Canal (1871-1882). Its neighbour, 325 St. Paul St., is a well maintained example of the same period
One of my older photos. This is my niece Corinna on the Bogener Berg district of Straubing. At this time, she was just five years old. She is now fourteen and it is pending only a centimeter and she is as big as me. How the time flies. :-)

The charming little hotel where I stayed in Venice had a terrace restaurant where I ate one night. The hotel was the home of the famous composer, Vivaldi, and was on St. Mark's Basin. It was also next to this great canal where one had a view of several bridges.

In the pre-Christmas period, the city of Traben-Trarbach on the river Moselle is particularly attractive:
The Trarbach Moselle shore with its art nouveau buildings is illuminated next to the underground Christmas market around the themes "wine, enjoyment & culture", which takes place in large wine cellars.
The image is a 16: 8 section of a panorama of 8 vertical shots a' 70 mm, total size 27265 x 6761 pixels.
