The morning marine layer slowly lifts, revealing a scene abundant in bird and marine life as the Pigeon Point Lighthouse quietly surveys the action. It's been years since this old lighthouse has leant it's beams to guide the sailors home. But it's none-the-less for it's inactivity.

From a geological standpoint, Iceland is a very young country, still in the midst of its own creation. Shaped by the forces of nature, the, barren landscapes demonstrate the creativity powers of the four basic elements—earth, air, fire, and water—in a dramatic way. Active volcanoes, bright green valleys, glacier-cut fjords, black sand beaches, and roaring rivers are the most distinctive features of the Icelandic landscape. And although they are very accessible, they still remain virtually untouched by human civilization. In a fast-paced world of sprawling development, Iceland's pure nature and empty expanses stand out as a luxury.
Despite the name, “ice” only covers about 10% of the land, but still represents the largest glaciers left in Europe. It represents a source of pure water and symbolizes the purity of Icelandic

This I wish particularly in moments like this, when I'm fortunate to watch nature peacefully awakening and getting ready for a new day.
Das wünsche ich mir ganz besonders in Momenten wie diesen, wenn ich das Glück habe beobachten zu dürfen wie friedlich die Natur aufwacht und sich für den neuen Tag rüstet.
Monday morning after the Dutch summer Sunday :-)

This was the first time I had driven down to the beach in Long Beach, Washington state. The town, itself, is a lot of fun...a lot of fun little shops and restaurants...a very nice place to spend an afternoon. Then we drove down to the actual beach at sunset (one of my favorite things to do!) I love how there were several layers of land and sea...pretty cool! Hope you enjoy!

Chaffinch - male. Seen sitting in the late afternoon sun at Tittesworth Reservoir at Meerbrook, Staffordshire.
One of the satellite dishes of the "Erdfunkstelle Raisting" put directly onto the little church "St. Johannes der Täufer" - well, actually it is some distance behind the church, taken exploiting the telephoto compression.
The church was build around 1428 in late Gothic style.
