¿Cómo llegar a aprehenderlo?

First advent - I hope you are all well. I wish you a contemplative Advent. Try to protect you as much as possible from the hectic season.
This is another version of the same scene, taken some minutes earlier and from another position. The post processing was a bit different (I have used an enhancer). What I like about it, are the different mountains.
BTW: There is a nice restaurant and beer garden behind that church. We have been there many times.

This is a shot of downtown Salt Lake City with the Utah Capitol building and the Salt Lake LDS Temple. I grew up in a suburb of Salt Lake City and lived there until I moved to Houston for work in 2001. The downtown area certainly doesn't campare to Houston....but the scenery of the Salt Lake Valley surrounded by the Wasatch Mountains blows the Houston scenery right out of the water.

With new full-frame gear in-hand (well, new to me that is) and a thin moon in the forecast, I headed out for a little testing. As it turned out, the low valley fog at the foot of the Sangre De Cristo Mountains made for quite a foreground against the starry skies. This 15 second single exposure was taken above the little mountain town of Westcliffe, Colorado - a great location with some of the darkest skies in the state.
And yes, I'm happy to say that I shot this with my new D700 and 24-70mm f/2.8 lens. After renting (and loving) this camera some 18 months ago, I'll admit that I'm very excited to be able to start applying some of the creative techniques I've learned about since then. To be honest, I'm hoping to reach a level of quality even higher than what I show here and I look forward to sharing it with my friends here on flickr.

In astronomy, the Pleiades, or Seven Sisters (Messier object 45), is an open star cluster containing middle-aged hot B-type stars located in the constellation of Taurus. It is among the nearest star clusters to Earth and is the cluster most obvious to the naked eye in the night sky. Pleiades has several meanings in different cultures and traditions.
The cluster is dominated by hot blue and extremely luminous stars that have formed within the last 100 million years. Dust that forms a faint reflection nebulosity around the brightest stars was thought at first to be left over from the formation of the cluster (hence the alternate name Maia Nebula after the star Maia), but is now known to be an unrelated dust cloud in the interstellar medium that the stars are currently passing through. Astronomers estimate that the cluster will survive for about another 250 million years, after which it will disperse due to gravitational interactions with its galactic neighborhood.

I always love a symmetrical shot but rarely process one just for the fun of it :) The original shot for this is so-so & looks rather boring to me therefore this is one great chance to do a flip for a more visual impact. Bet you guys can't really tell the difference rite even tho i've left some parts the way it is so you can see :D

Golden Gate Bridge:
When you think of San Francisco, the Golden Gate Bridge is the one landmark that best represents it city!!
This bridge connects both US Route 101 and California State Route 1.
The bridge also connects the city of San Francisco on the northern tip of the San Francisco Peninsula to Marin County.
If you are driving, be aware that driving into the city of San Francisco on the bridge requires you to pay a $7 toll.
This is a BIG tourist trap, but it will always be a MUST SEE in San Francisco. The bridge is well worth crossing on foot, but for me personally that will be my next trip up to this beautiful city.
And make sure you take your obligatory snap shot of yourself and the bridge herself on your visit.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Sceaux is a commune in the southern suburbs of Paris, France. It is located 9.7 km (6.0 mi) from the center of Paris famous for the Château of Sceaux, set in its large park (Parc départemental de Sceaux), designed by André Le Nôtre, measuring 2 km2 (0.77 sq mi).
The original château, demolished during the Revolution, was built by Jean-Baptiste Colbert, the minister of finance to Louis XIV and purchased by Louis' illegitimate son, the duke of Maine in 1699. His duchesse held court in a glittering salon at Sceaux in the first decades of the eighteenth century.
The present château, rebuilt 1856-62 in a Louis XIII style, is now the museum of Île-de-France open for visits.

I love the different seasons in the forest and like watching the cycle of nature. Autumn in a beech forest is always very nice and special for me.
Seen in the forest between Strümpfelbach and Aichwald (Baden-Württemberg, Germany).

Me dijo ''tengo frío, acércame calor'',
(Silvio Rodriguez)
Before I left for my Yosemite trip, I captured a sunrise over Lake Michigan. The sun wavered in and out of a dense layer of clouds on the horizon. I really loved this fabulous, dilapidated beach fence, silhouetted against the sky.
I'm still going through the 'one or two fence shots' I managed to capture on my California trip and can't decide which one to post ... so I'm pulling this one from the archives. Caught a bit of a cold at the tail end of my trip so I'll be rummaging through the fence group later this afternoon ... from the comfort of my couch.
Happy Fence Friday and hope everyone has an awesome weekend!!

Starry night sky and the northern tail of the Milky Way over Castle Rock, a sandstone monument in Castle Valley, Utah (about 16 miles northeast of Moab). There are "notes" on the above photo outlining the Andromeda Galaxy (M31) and the Double Cluster. The top portion of this light-painted monument is called Castleton Tower -- a 400-foot (120 m) sandstone tower standing on a 1,000 foot talus cone, rising a total of 1,400 feet (427 m) above the valley.
Light Painting the 'Rock': My son, Chris, assisted me on this photo shoot. He climbed to a bluff 2,000 feet (610 m) to the left of me and painted the monument and tower with a 2-million candle power halogen spotlight. We synchronized his 15 seconds of painting and my 15 seconds of camera exposure time via two-way radios. We were both about 4,750 feet (1,448 m) from the center of the monument (see these 2 photo maps). I used an EF 24mm f1.4L II lens on a Canon 5D Mk2, exposing for 15 seconds @ f2.0, ISO 5000. Here is additional information about how I photograph these "NightScapes".
My new ebook, Milky Way NightScapes, gives extensive details on how to enhance the landscape foreground. Three other chapters cover planning, scouting, forecasting star/landscape alignment, shooting and post processing.

Drinking Starbucks coffee and driving on Interstate 5 south of Seattle don’t go well together.
This is the classic view of the Seattle skyline from Kerry Park.
I somehow managed to get this shot in between having spirited discussions with fellow photographers on lens selection, exposure and who Santa would be delivering the new Canon EOS-1D X camera to this Christmas.
The next morning I grabbed a cup of coffee in the original Starbucks at the Pike Place Market. Back in my car I headed south to meet my friend in Grants Pass, Oregon.
If you ever matriculated in higher education in America you would be familiar with the following question as seen on the SAT or GRE:
“If vehicle A is driving south on I-5 at sixty miles an hour and random brick B is coming toward vehicle A at seventy miles per hour what will be the cost of the damage to vehicle A?”
Answer: A broken oil pan, hundreds of dollars and another night in Seattle.
I didn’t mind spending another night in Seattle since it meant more photography opportunities and caffeine!
Here’s to lovely skylines, busted oil pans and to Seattle the caffeinated city!
Happy Travels!

I have barely begun the process of going through my 7K+ collection of images. I had so many ideas for today's post ... but when I saw Irene's post of our epic sunset photoshoot at Baker Beach, and Char's post of our epic sunset photoshoot at the Berkeley Pier; I decided to go backwards and post my epic sunset shot at Pfeiffer Beach in Big Sur with Sarah P ... my last sunset of the trip.
More importantly, I want to dedicate this post to everyone who took care of me on my 16-Day California Safari. I am overwhelmed by the kindness of everyone ... meeting up with old friends ... and meeting new friends. This was the trip of a lifetime, and it wouldn't have been possible without them.
Last of all, I want to make a special dedication to a new friend, Aurelia. You are in my thoughts & prayers. {{hugs}} ♥♥♥

That's how I feel..when I am hiding in a stress-free place, where the only sounds you can hear are the morning owls or your own steps in the layer of fallen golden leaves. It is quite cold, outside, but the Nature looks so enchanted that no one cares. :) PS: Another great morning trip with my friend Max.. more photos to come :) One (of myself) is below
