We are having a nice wet spring this year, and that translates to snow in the mountains. We went and shot Mt. Hood in the lower light, it had a little pink in the clouds and the sun highlighted the top of the mountain.
Mount Hood is located approximately 90 minutes outside of Portland on the border between Clackamas and Hood River counties. Mount Hood stands at 11,239 feet (3,425 meters). It is the highest point and mountain peak in the state of Oregon, and the second most climbed mountain in the world (second only to Japan’s holy Mt. Fujiyama).
We literally walked out of Timberline Lodge, at Mt Hood, up a small slope and got this great vantage point shot.

There are doormen who just do their job and there are doormen who love where they work.
This man working here was the friendliest and most interested doorman I ever met over all the years I'm now photographing staircases.

Perhaps the world’s longest covered walkway, this winding 666 vault arcade is almost four kilometres long going from downtown Bologna to the Sanctuary of the Madonna di San Luca.

The bridge was built by The City of Calgary to connect the southern Bow River pathway and Downtown Calgary with the northern Bow River pathway and the community of Sunnyside. This connection was designed to accommodate the increasing number of people commuting to and from work and those utilizing Calgary's pathways.
I was fascinated by the Peace Bridge and because my hotel was right behind the Shaw building I could go there anytime I wanted...:-))

Also called the Drei Zinnen as up until 1919, they formed part of the border between Italy and Austria. There are many reasons this is a very popular hike around the three peaks reaching 2,999 metres at the highest point.

There is nothing like entertaining visitors to remind you of what a beautiful place you live in. When we visited Fort Worden (the old WWII bunker in the background) on the tip of the Quimper Peninsula near Pt. Townsend, WA, the yellow lupines were dotting the the landscape with brilliant yellow.
"In the deep spring when grass was green on fields and foothills, when the lupines and poppies made a splendid blue and gold earth ... then there was no more lovely place in the world."
~ John Steinbeck

As DBS Tug 60100 disappears towards Lostock Works in Northwich on this placid wintry afternoon, it's hard not to reflect on whether this may be one of the last times we see them down this way given the rumoured mothballing of these fine machines.
Or maybe it's a mere dream .........?

Back to my trip up to St Cyrus at the weekend for this shot. The whole scene was every bit as tranquial as this image suggests.
You can see the rock formation and cottage in my earlier post on the left hand side of this.

The Laugavegur is a famous trekking route in South-West Iceland from the hot springs area of Landmannalaugar to the glacial valley of Þórsmörk . It is noted for the wide variety of landscapes on its 55 km (34 mi) path. The route is typically completed over 2–4 days with potential stops at the mountain huts at Hrafntinnusker, Álftavatn, Hvanngil and Emstrur. An ultramarathon is held on the route each July. It is possible to combine the trek with the Fimmvörðuháls route which goes over the pass from Þórsmörk to Skógar for an additional one or two days or an additional 25 km (16 mi). Landmannalaugar, Þórsmörk, and Skógar are all reachable by bus during the summer. A bus from Hella connects with Álftavatn once a day during the summer.

A long exposure, bracketed exposure, landscape image of the Vestrahorn at Stokksnes in eastern Iceland.
I have seen a couple of black and white images of this location recently so decided to try a different treatment of one of my images taken back in October. I wanted to retain some of the colour of the grass without doing a selective colour, which I never like, so went with some split-toning to try to achieve that effect.
