The fountain was cast in Paris and completed for the 1876 International Centennial Exhibition in Philadelphia, the same exhibit at which Bartholdi displayed the Statue of Liberty’s right arm and torch. Bartholdi had originally intended to complete the Statue of Liberty in 1876 in time for the Country's Centennial, but construction was delayed. While the remainder of the statue was being completed in Paris, Bartholdi displayed the arm and torch at the Philadelphia Exhibition, along with his commissioned fountain
The ice is real, but there was some human help to build it like this in "Eispaläste Schwarzsee". Anyway, beautiful formations.

Have a Happy Weekend !
... such a lot of things. And I do not know what this beautiful butterfly is - can anyone help? Taken at Stratford-upon-Avon Butterfly Farm and honestly, I didn't have to do anything to this except crop it and sharpen very, very slightly. I do recommend this wonderful place ... but only if you don't mind butterflies landing on you, or hot, steamy conditions. Because it is HOT and STEAMY !!
ID would be gratefully received. Thanks for all your faves, comments and invites. I've just got back from Brighton but didn't have a chance to take many photos of the place as I was visiting family and they come first, of course.
Thank you so much Chandana for the ID: It's "Dryas Iulia".
Chandana's photostream is wonderful - have a look here ! Chandana Witharanage

As Nelli is more adventourous as her sister, Mira watches from the kitchen door what she will do next ...
As it is the very first time for them to be outside in their life and because of the strong winds blowing, their first "excursions" didn't take too long :-))

This shot has been taken in Manarola during the blue hour, the temperature was around five degres and the waves were pretty high in the sea. The town is almost desert during winter, but always a beautiful subject to photograph.
This is the old building at the edge of Benmore Gardens. Currently it houses the administrative offices and the art gallery.
The witch tower in Treysa is a round tower and part of the city fortification.
The so-called witch tower dates from the 15th century. It is a late Gothic round tower with external access to the upper floor. Its protruding tin crowning is characteristic. It was part of the fortification of the lower town. It is the only largely preserved round tower in the city and once comprised four floors.
It was used in the upper part to defend the city gate and in the lower part as a dungeon. In 1609, a woman accused of witchcraft was held in the tower. Due to its historical significance as part of the medieval city fortification, it is listed as a monument. Its current location is the crossroads Steingasse/Rosengasse.

Calgary - Alberta

Designed by Santiago Calatrava
The bridge was built by The City of Calgary to connect the southern Bow River pathway and Downtown Calgary with the northern Bow River pathway and the community of Sunnyside. This connection was designed to accommodate the increasing number of people commuting to and from work and those utilizing Calgary's pathways.
I was fascinated by the Peace Bridge and because my hotel was right behind the Shaw building I could go there anytime I wanted...:-))

There is nothing like entertaining visitors to remind you of what a beautiful place you live in. When we visited Fort Worden (the old WWII bunker in the background) on the tip of the Quimper Peninsula near Pt. Townsend, WA, the yellow lupines were dotting the the landscape with brilliant yellow.
"In the deep spring when grass was green on fields and foothills, when the lupines and poppies made a splendid blue and gold earth ... then there was no more lovely place in the world."
~ John Steinbeck
