“Painting by Pablo Picasso: Les Trois Baigneuses (Signed and dated lower right Picasso, Boisgeloup 15 Septembre 1932, Oil on canvas)” / Galería Leandro Navarro / Art Basel Hong Kong 2013 / SML.20130523.6D.13976
Galería Leandro Navarro in Madrid, Spain gave a solo show to Picasso during Art Basel Hong Kong 2013.
Titled “Les Trois Baigneuses” or “The three bathers” in English, this painting was drawn on September 15, 1932 while Picasso is having his summer vacations in the South of France—at Boisgeloup.
Picasso is one of my favorite artists of all times. As a creator, his work is always changing and fresh, independent of gallery demands. His lines are brief, which shows decisiveness and maturity of a painter.

# Description by the Gallery
In 1932, inspired by his summer vacations in the South of France, Picasso executed a number of paintings of figures on a beach. This work is most closely related to two similar sized compositions, both titled Baigneuses, painted during the same period (Zervos, vol.8, nos. 61 and 62). The first (no. 61) was painted one week earlier on September the 6th and was also dean with a dense line and darkly coloured passages in the background. That work appears to contain four figures in a mostly triangular grouping. The present work contains three figures and the added element of the dressing huts in the right background. The final work (no. 62) painted on the 28th of November shows the figures more clearly delineated and the whole composition is far more sophisticated. While the last work most clearly shows the figures as play, this and the earlier painting both have an element of foreboding as the lower figure relates to the image of the drowned woman which appears in other beach scenes. With this association in mind, the scene shifts between exuberant play and a moment of highly charged distress.
