Very end of autumn day.
I expected autumn colours but there wasn't much autumn here.
Air was cold and warm sunlight was really nice.

Hello There!
One cold day I spotted a stem of Chinese Lanterns that were sticking out from the snow, what a treat! I didn't have my camera with me, so I took a phone shot, then pulled lots of sliders in Topaz Studio. Happy Slider's Sunday! HSS!
Thanks a million for stopping by and for your comment, I do love hearing from you! Have a wonderful day!

Our guides, from Guilin Photography Tours, setup an opportunity to go into some peoples homes on our first day.
It's one thing to be walking around an ancient village but something else entirely to be invited into a home and photograph people within their surroundings.
This lady, to me, was absolutely beautiful both in her appearance and in spirit. So was so welcoming when we came in and was so willing to be a subject for our cameras.
This is one of my favourite moments from the trip and one of my favourite shots from the couple of weeks that I was in China.

The Year of the Rabbit is fourth in the Chinese Zodiac, following the Tiger, and preceding the Dragon. These are Rabbit years: 1939, 1951, 1963, 1975, 1987, 1999, 2011, 2023.
If you were born in a Rabbit year, then you're a Rabbit, and the following things are supposed to be lucky for you:
Lucky colors: red, pink, purple, blue
Lucky numbers: 3, 4, 6
Lucky flowers: plantain lily and jasmine

I took this picture during Chinese New Year celebrations in Paris. I like the color mix going on here.
Loropetalum (Loropetalum chinensis, Hamamelidaceae) is an evergreen shrub. Also known as Chinese witch hazel or Chinese fringe flower, it puts on a beautiful show in spring with small, frilly flowers, typically pink.
I was down on my knees (not an easy job for someone my age) looking to get a photo of these little asters when this huge mantis flew over my shoulder and landed right in front of me. I estimate it was about 6 inches (15 cm.) long. My research indicates the Chinese Mantis is not native to the US but was brought here nearly 200 years ago as a deterrent to other small insects. They can still be purchased here for that purpose or for pets!
The Chinese windmill (Byasa alcinous) is a medium to large sized butterfly of the family Papilionidae.
This species can be found in temperate east Asia from Bhutan, and eastern China to the southern Ussuri region, Korea and Japan.
The butterfly is present in mixed broadleaved forests.
The Chinese windmill has a wingspan reaching about 9–10 cm.
The basic colour of the wings is black or dark brown.
The hindwings have long tails and a chain of red spots at the edges. The thorax and the abdomen are mainly black on the upperside and the underside, with several black spots, while the other areas are red. Adults are on wing from May to August in two generations.
This picture was taken in the outdoor aviary of the "De Passiflorahoeve" (Passiflorafarm) in Harskamp, the Netherlands.
