Dear India Rose
Graffiti Bridge, UFO House - Pensacola - Summer '19 Road Trip Ep.3
Episode 3 of our road trip adventure! We started the day making wishes at the lobby fountain in our hotel... The Pensacola Grand. India's first wish was for a unicorn and her second wish was for a wishing fountain of her own, so she could have endless wishes! The 17th Ave bridge AKA The Pensacola Graffiti Bridge, built in 1888, draws locals and visitors from around the world, all leaving their mark. Generation after generation have been painting this local landmark for decades, the graffiti changes daily, making this tiny bridge an evolving, ever changing work of art. From Memorials and birthday messages to comical drawings and even the occasional prom invite, this bridge has seen it all. Graffiti is illegal, but the Pensacola community has embraced this tradition and the police turn a blind eye to the nightly taggers that cover every inch of the bridge, surrounding rocks and adjacent car park... Very cool! The Futuro UFO house was designed by Finnish architect, Matti Suuronen in the late '60s. It has survived several hurricanes and a tornado over the years, making us wonder if all Floridians should be living in spaceships! Dome of a Home is another unusual home design on Pensacola Beach that is deemed hurricane proof (The NBC News weather team rode out Hurricane Ivan safely in the Dome Home). The geodesic design was constructed in 2003, a creation by architect Jonathan Zimmerman. Then finally we ended the day feeding fish down by the water! Thank you for watching Dear India Rose.
