This is a bi-colour sapphire with a very light yellow and blue colour. Yellow and blue colours are very interesting colours in the Sapphire family. Yellow Sapphire is a yellow colour variety of corundum Family and called “pushparaga”. The names derived from the Sinhalese Sanskrit word. Blue Sapphire is also a very valuable and popular stone in the corundum family.

 

When Both colours have in one stone separately, It’s commonly called as Bi-Color Sapphire. But, It has a very special name as ” wedding stone”. The name derives from Sinhalese old trade name ” magul gala”. ( magul mean; wedding/ gala mean; stone ). That Sanskrit word is been using for an ancient Kings time.
