Bruxism and Otalgia n°10 - Jiache acupoint

THOUGHTS ABOUT JIACHE ACUPOINT What sensitive areas whith JIACHE point (ST-6) and Masseter region? 1 - The Jiache point is located in the great auricular dermatome (C2-C3): If we lightly press on the skin (touching and massaging), we will stimulate the cervical nerves (and indirectly the trigemino-cervical complex). 2 - It is located in the fleshy region of the masseter muscle: If we press deeper, we will stimulate the sensory roots of the masseter muscle. These are dependent on the trigeminal nerve. Indeed, the masseter motor nerve has sensory endings! AND ALSO SENSORY NERVES BONES OF MANDIBLE (percussion). More information about innervation and masseter muscle (see this article dated 1985). REF : Quek, Samuel & Grunwerg, Barry. (2009). Masseteric nerve block for masseter muscle pain-A clinical note. Quintessence international (Berlin, Germany : 1985). 40. 87-91.
