On Monday the 26 September, 1983 our Prime Minister declares when Australia II wins the America's Cup Yacht Race, "any boss who sacks anyone for not turning up today is a bum." It was my first year at Uni so this sporting event has been etched into my memory. The Boxing Kangaroo (seen on the wall behind) was the official mascot for the Australia II #yacht and has become a sporting icon in its own right. Sad to think that the Sydney Entertainment Centre proudly displaying the yacht in my photo (the building opened in the same year Australia II won the America's Cup) has been demolished this year.
