The Red-vented Bulbul (Pycnonotus cafer) is a small passerine bird found in Bangladesh and other parts of the Indian subcontinent.
This bird has a distinctive red patch beneath its tail, which is visible when it flies or spreads its tail feathers. Its upperparts are brownish-grey, and its underparts are whitish-grey. It has a crest on its head, and a black mask-like patch around its eyes.
Red-vented Bulbuls are commonly found in gardens, parks, and wooded areas in urban and rural areas of Bangladesh. They feed on a variety of fruits, nectar, and insects. They are known for their melodious calls, and often form large flocks that can be quite noisy.
In Bangladesh, Red-vented Bulbuls are not considered threatened, and their populations are stable. They are a common sight in many parts of the country, and are widely appreciated for their beauty and song.
