Chestnut-tailed Starling or Grey-headed Myna (Sturnia malabarica) is a member of the starling family of perching birds. It is a resident or partially migratory species found in wooded habitats in India and Southeast Asia.

The species name is after the distribution of a former subspecies in the Malabar region. This resident population has a white head and is often treated as a full species, the Malabar starling (Sturnia blythii).

DO YOU KNOW - Ruppell’s Griffon Vulture is the highest flying bird ever recorded. Flying at an altitude of 37000 ft.

Happy birding 🐦

One from this summer.

Isle lake Alberta.

I know...it's just a Robin; but it's the first one we've had in our yard! And this bird is a sure sign that Spring is just around the corner now. It was so nice to wake up and hear the singing of our Spring time friend Robby.

This Prairie Warbler found a nice perch from which to view his surroundings. The song of this beautiful bird is perhaps the most distinct out of all the warblers. A rising buzzy buzz, almost metallic sounding. Please view large for best experience.

An unexpected highlight of my weekend trips to the cotswolds

Wilson's Snipe, backroads of Oregon.

Beautiful Goldfinch in our garden

A couple of 'through the kitchen window' shots.

This is the Hermit Thrush that has been with us for a couple of weeks in the backyard. He has really made himself at home, but I will really miss him when fly's up north.

These guys are so beautiful, it's almost a religious experience when I see one. (Shot through a dirty windshield).

The bird had recovered quickly and flew away happily - and I had taken some nice photos! :-)

Bruchpilot Nr. 2

Der verunglückte Vogel hatte sich schnell erholt und flog fröhlich davon - und ich hatte ein paar schöne Fotos gemacht! :-)

Hier sieht er schon wieder fit aus!

These little birds are so fast

This is the first one that I was able to photograph
