365/2021 - Expanding Horizons ~ 307/365
Thank you to everyone who pauses long enough to look at my photo. All comments and Faves are very much appreciated
Our final stop on the way home from Skye was by the Battle of Glenshiel (1719) site beside the A87. There is a long ribbon of falls on the River Sheil as it tumbles from Cnoc nan Each and getting a clear view was made difficult by the rough terrain, the vegetation and those dam biting midges!
This project has kept me busy! I cut many strips of 3/4" fabric and wound them around clothesline and zigzagged it till it was the size I wanted. Finished size is 4x10". Very tedious but worth the effort.
"Zigzag's of Life"
Zigzag .... it's a drag with all the ups and downs .... we must be happy turning upside down the frowns .... it's like our life often comes with blows .... there will be peaks and troughs .... alas .... or sometimes awful lows.

This little image is very small with the diameter across the wood drills of under 2 inches, so the whole image including negative space is around 2.5 inches so well within the measurement requirements of a maximum of 3 inches x 3 inches.
At the centre of these wood drills I have inserted a small yellow flower to add a little softness to the overall photographic effect.
Happy Macro Monday! Everyone! HMM.

Scribbly Gum (Eucalyptus haemostoma) the scribbly zigzag patterns are made by the larvae of Scribbly Gum moths (Ogmograptis scribula) As the larva burrows between the bark layers it leaves a tunnel which is revealed when the old bark falls away.

This is actually skating on the lake, but the cleared area was apparently not as fun as going through the snow... go figure.
Un grand merci pour vos favoris, commentaires et encouragements toujours très appréciés.

Hanging on my front porch (a few years ago) was this garden spider on its web with characteristic densely-spun, zigzag pattern known as a stabilimentum.
From Wikipedia: "The purpose of the stabilimentum is disputed. It is possible that it acts as camouflage for the spider lurking in the web's center, but it may also attract insect prey, or even warn birds of the presence of the otherwise difficult-to-see web. Only those spiders that are active during the day construct stabilimenta in their webs."
