Blue hour view of the zigzaggy roof of the MIM (Muskinstrumenten-Museum Berlin/Berlin Musical Instrument Museum) and a glimpse of the Kammermusiksaal/Chamber Music Hall's roof at Berlin's Kulturforum. The Kulturforum (Cultural Forum) is a building ensemble in Berlin's Tiergarten district near Potsdamer Platz. Next to the Philharmonie and the aforementioned Kammermusiksaal several museums and the "Staatsbibliothek zu Berlin" (Berlin State Library, affectionately also called "Stabi" by the users) belong to the ensemble.

This view from the outer west of the former Sony Center was a little tricky to catch because the white "wings" on top of the Kammermusiksaal were visible only from one particular position. The image might have benefitted from getting closer to the roof but that would have required a longer telephoto range than the maximum 75 mm my LX100 II offers.

Taken on an epic afternoon/sunset/blue hour/evening photo walk with m_laRs_k and magrit k. :) This was also the "It's going to be dark but we won't bring a tripod" walk because Mathias travelled lightweight with only his X100V (and no tripod). So this was also an opportunity to put the high(er) ISO capabilities of both the little Lumix and my OM1 to the test. I must say, both cameras faired pretty well. Especially the much newer OM1 (as was to be expected) but the little Lumix also did a pretty good job, better than I had expected. And what didn't look so nice was handled well with the modern noise reduction tools found in DXO PhotoLab and Topaz DeNoise. So no more fear of using high ISO values ;)

I also toyed with the idea of removing the three lonely stars that were in the image but since their triangular pattern echoed that of the MIM's roof and they also added something to the otherwise cloudless, "empty" sky, and so also created a better balance in the image (methinks), I decided to let them in and highlighted them with some dodge and burn instead.

"Citadel": apartment building, 2022, architects: MVSA.

The location of the new apartment building, called Citadel, is in the ‘Blue Band village’ neighbourhood, directly opposite the famous complex of ‘sawtooth houses’ by prominent post-war architect Frans van Gool. Built in 1959, the blocks of single-family houses have an experimental floor plan that means their façades form a zigzag line, creating a sawtooth pattern. It was the blue mouldings on their roofs that gave the neighbourhood its Blue Band nickname, after the packaging of the Dutch margarine brand.

With the whole Blue Band village a protected monument since 2008, our design for the new build set out to respect its context, while adding a contemporary twist to the neighbourhood. Rather than attempting a high-rise building, which would have sat awkwardly here, we opted for a mid-rise development that would not dwarf the existing housing. We also responded to the sawtooth theme with a striking façade of zigzagging white balconies for our apartment building. These form a dynamic rippling wave as they progress over its face. Now it soon going to be Easter; and I should go out and look for some easter eggs; but I hate eggs, speciel the chocolate ones , I would rather like to go out and find some good dog chews, but maybe if I find some eggs I can exhange them to bones.

Según una tradición china, los puentes en zigzag impiden que los malos espíritus puedan seguir a los fieles que acuden al templo ya que aquellos solo pueden desplazarse en línea recta…

According to a Chinese tradition, zigzag bridges prevent evil spirits from following the faithful who come to the temple, since they can only move in a straight line…

Built between 1925 and 1929, the Grassimuseum is one of the few major German museum buildings of the Weimar Republic. For the historically significant area between the Old St John's Cemetery and Johannisplatz, the Leipzig city planning officer Hubert Ritter designed a spacious complex in conjunction with the architectural firm Zweck und Voigt. The layout follows the tradition of European palace construction. The architecture combines a clear, functionalist design language with the expressive decorative forms of Art Deco.

The Zigzag Heron is an enigmatic, poorly-known little heron of swampy forest. Adults are very dark overall, gray heavily marked with narrow black vermiculations. Juveniles are cinnamon on the face and neck and cinnamon with black vermiculations on the upperparts. This species occurs in areas with slow-moving or standing water adjacent to dense vegetation, including gallery forest, swamp forest, and streams, pools, and marshes bordering tropical evergreen forest. Here it hunts for small fish and insects from branches low over the water. Birds have a peculiar habit of tail-flicking while hunting. Individuals are most-often detected by scanning the water's edge carefully from a boat or listening for the cooing call near dawn or dusk. Pantanal North is the Southeast location where this bird can be seen. Otherwise, you must go to the Amazon Forest. It was a real threat to find this amazing little bird. I hope you enjoy it - better seen Large (press L).

A corner on the top level of the Holland Street carpark, that is protected with a corrugated iron fence with the top and side edges cut into sharp pointy zigzags.

This was what I saw when I drove over the Zigzag River Bridge tonight. This is the moon coming up over the top of Zigzag Ridge with the Zigzag River in the foreground. Mount Hood is right behind that mountain.

It's a cold, cold night tonight. There was black ice on the road when I was coming home.

This is the perfect image of this evening up in the hills.
