Macro Mondays 'crinkled, wrinkled, folded or creased' theme.

Each sheet of paper in this is the very beginning of an Origami 'herringbone tesselation' fold. I tried for quite some time and many larger sheets of paper were binned before I gave up and used these small squares, folded each to the first stage and then stacked them.

In Sep this year, my friends and I took a cruise trip to the glacier shown in this image, called Columbia Glacier. We took off from Valdez, Alaska and although the day was rainy and cloudy, I thought it was the perfect condition to see the glacier and mountains. This image is my favorite one on that cruise because I really like how the glacier interacts with the land in a zigzag pattern and how the background mountains hide in the haze and fog.

I may have taken this shot more as an excuse to catch my breath while on an ascent up a steep hill on my way to Alcock Tarn! The other side of the valley to me towers above. The rocky outcrop on the ridge to the left is Stone Arthur, while the steep valley is that of Greenhead Gill running down from Great Rigg.

To get the scale of this mountainside, you may be hard pressed to spot the people walking up the zigzag-shaped footpath through the bracken on the other hill. Click on the photo to expand to full size.

Three Level Zigzag road is probably the most dizzying road in the world that includes more than 100 hairpins in just 30km. It's one of the most scenic drives in the world. This spiral road is located near Zuluk or Dzuluk, a small village located in the historic Old Silk Route from Tibet to India, on the rugged terrain of the lower Himalayas in East Sikkim.

From along the Timberline Trail on the SW flank of Mount Hood. That is the start of the Zigzag River down there.

This tiny Plebs ebernus cut a dashing figure in the middle of her web. Would make a great design on an Art Deco brooch.

Unlike larger Eriophora species of orb weaver I see in these parts, these tend to remain in the web during the daylight hours rather than moving into a retreat soon after sunrise.
