Something new I tried. A #mandala of words

Erin, at the Bright Owl, has given us another awesome Zendala to tangle. I tweeked the original outline. I hope Erin doesn't mind. This Zendala is drawn on pale violet card stock, using Micron .01 pen and shaded with graphite pencil. I hope you like it. I look forward to reading your comments.

The template for this dare can be found at: thebrightowl.blogspot.com/2012/05/zendala-dare-4.html

The challenge was to use Mexico or the ocean as the theme. I chose bold patterns and bright colors reminiscent of Mexico.

Thanks for visiting!

i traced a zentangle tile into my sketch book and i hadn't finished it before moving on. but today i purchased a small field study watercolour kit (koi water colors pocket field sketch box by sakura) on clearance at joann. and to try it out, i just kinda went for it. and i LOVE IT. i mean, not this so much it is kind of weird and wacky but the effect. i've always been so partial to watercolour. so. happy addition to my creative outlet arsenal!

I used red Inktense pencils with water and splattered the colour on the zendala. Then I added black micron and metallic pink jelly roll on the heart Ixorus.

This was an odd shape - I didn't realise it only had 7 points until after I started doing one - then I remembered what Erin wrote on her Blogg - it was different than other templates. It was interesting to say the least - not really sure how I was going to tackle it - I ended up doing 3 very different looking Zendalas.

Template from The Bright Owl

This Zendla Dare from Erin Olson was drawn on blue cardstock with Micron pens and shaded with white and black graphite pencils. The tangles I used are Garlande, Spaanders, and Tripoli. The bows are a doodle taught to me by my mother many years ago. They just seemed so perfect because the squares looked like boxes and I decided to make them presents. This one was lots of fun for me. Thanks Erin for your continued efforts, providing such great Zendalas each week. I so appreciate it!

Part of a series exploring grid patterns in the round.

I did this group with just a compass and played with different circles. Just kept putting the point where two circles would meet. Then I zentangled them!!

And another one. At least one more coming; but I'm still working on it.

We have been away in the motorhome and found a lot of time to tangle, this is a mixture of tan and black zendalas, white standard tiles, bijou and 3Z tiles. I'm glad I took enough drawing supplies with me.

catching up with some dares

This Zendala was drawn from the template provided by Erin at the Bright Owl blog. The theme was to represent "Baby, it's cold outside." Not sure mine does that, but it was fun to draw. I used Micron .01 & .005 pens and shaded with graphite pencil. I appreciate your comments. Thanks for viewing.

This is a copy of one I already posted, but this time shaded in purple. I like it a lot better than the one shaded with graphite when I drew it with purple ink. This is the one I will post on the dare.

Used the same plate to make this zentangle.

I am trying to incorporate more round tiles in my usual tangling. It is a personal challenge because it pushes me to think harder than I usually need to, with square tiles.

Hand-drawn mandala, digitally layered with a Gelli print and several other layers.

Based on my mandala template number 16.

I've got to be honest ... When I first saw this template, I didn't like it at all. Once I started tangling, though, I found that I really liked it.
