17/4/25. Sydney Trains owned Alco 48 class 4827 named 'Thunderbird 2' is spotted as it passes through Sydenham with Xplorer cars EC2522 & EB2512, bound for Eveleigh.

The Moree portion of NP24 crossing the Mooki River Bridge at Brreza. At Werris Creek the two cars will amalgamate with 3 or 4 car train from Armidale before continuing to Sydney.

Initially i wasn't really a fan of the Wright Streetdeck in terms of looks but over time I actually think they are just fine, ok they don't have the lovely looks of a VR or even some of Wright's earlier offerings but here it is certainly helped by the attractive Mendip Xplorer livery.

This was taken at First's Wells depot from the road side during a long weekend holiday and one of the few dry moments of the trip!

Xplorer car EA2505 leads the standard 3 car set on a Canberra bound Xplorer service at Leightonfield running as SP33. Due to trackwork near Sydenham, Southern Highlands trains were diverted via the Main South Line in lieu of the East Hills.

Heading up the Wells Road in Bristol just past West Town Lane on a 376 to Street.

G533 + VL352 + 4814 + 4816 & 44204. Waiting to cross NP43 XPLORER.

After dropping passengers at the platform SL61, a NSW Rail Transport Museum tour, shunts to the mainline to cross XP22 the up Canberra Xplorer at Bungendore on 7th December 2002. The tour was promoted to have quad 44 class but as only 3 44 class were available on the day the Museum's 4803 and 4916 are assisting 4461, 4458 and 4490.

NP23 Xplorer rolls past Werris Creek's privately owned 4465 two days before the Goodwin ALCo diesel officially turned 50.

Endeavour Railcar set E2 pass through Tahmoor bound for Campbelltown wearing the NSW TrainLink Livery. It is expected that the rest of the Endeavour and Xplorer fleet will be wrapped in this livery throughout 2018.

An amazing old jeep on my block

Before the Xplorer railcars entered service, there was a mockup displayed at the International Association of Public Transport (UITP) Conference held at Darling Harbour, Sydney.

The weekly Griffith to Sydney Xplorer passes by the site of Razorback Siding in the Cullerin Ranges with SP42 to Goulburn. On arrival at Goulburn the train will attach to SP34 for the trip into Sydney.

EC2528 pours on the power as it powers northbound away from Towrang as SP36 to Sydney.

SP33, the midday Sydney to Canberra Xplorer, stops at Mittagong.

 

The semaphore signal visible is one of three semaphores remaining at Mittagong. The signal was used to authorise down trains into the now removed up refuge.

 

The disused brick platform visible on the left was the dock platform.

Running express through the very quiet Lochinvar Station, Xplorer EA2051 leads a five car consist bound for Armidale.

 

When the train arrives at Werris Creek, it will be divided into two parts, with the rear set heading for Moree.

 

Interestingly, I photographed the exact same set on the same service two days prior.

The only "regular" traffic north of Werris Creek other than the daily Xplorer service, PN liveried 48162/48152 working NK81 AK cars are seen between Walcha Road and Wollun while the sun is still very low on the eastern horizon.

Canberra > Sydney, Xplorer EC 2528 leading and EA 2506 tailing. Queanbeyan, New South Wales, Australia.

The Midday Canberra (SP34) and weekly train from Griffith (SP42) are seen here passing through Towrang as a 5 car set, after combining at Goulburn moments earlier.

Xplorer unit 2504 leads the combined Armidale/Moree Xplorer service out of Singleton.

On 18th June 2019 2524 leads WP46, the Broken Hill to Sydney Xplorer at Borenore. The building beside the crossing is the former Gatekeeper's cottage.
