On my hike through the forest of the Lois Hole Cent. prov. pk. I came across this rodent. Trying to pick a spot through the branches was a bit of a pain in the neck but eventually I caught it briefly looking at me while it was slowly "debarking" the birch branches..

Having this encounter at minus 20 C. was heartwarming to say the least.

It is happening friends. The warblers are slowly on the move.

A bird we quite often encounter on our Winter outings.

While I was trying to follow this guy going up the tree it was like panning for gold. Then he stopped and started preening.Ha,now I got a "nugget".

This seems to work both ways.

While I was observing five playful fox kits, the vixen was watching me and the kits at the same time but stayed at a good distance.

From Rubyred, so cute! Really big but they work with the little socks :) (Which are actually uneven, I am a horrible sock-maker xP)

It is not only us these big, hairy, blood-thursty marsh mosquitoes are after.

Typical courtship behaviour. The drake is doing his best to impress on the hen but she is only keeping her (half open) eye on him.

In April (when this photo was taken) everything looked promising but, for what ever reason, they quit and did not produce offspring at this nest-site.

Heard faint tapping and eventually found the "tapper". The image is a bit noisy but it was dark and if the shutter speed is not fast enough you will end up having blurred heads.

A difficult species to photograph because they like to be in the dense tall grasses. Flying out of the grass they drop back into it several yards farther away and are virtually gone from sight. I was lucky this one perched briefly in the open for me.

XP2006 and XP2001 roll off the Sydney Harbour Bridge and through Milsons Point with NT31, the Sydney to Brisbane XPT service.

Due to a fallen tree at Normanhurst closing the Main North line, NT31 made a rare trip via the North Shore line. The train left Central and travelled to Eveleigh before reversing up the shore. As such, the consist is 'reversed' in this shot, with Car A now being at the up end of the train.

An XPT travelling through here is an extremely rare occurrence having last occurred 4 years prior in 2020. This was one of those right place at the right time catches as I had just happened to be at Central heading to a dinner when I saw a delayed NT31 with all the passengers facing in the wrong direction. A quick trip on a suburban train got me in position just in time for this shot.

They were all over the place at that time.

This redwinged blackbird male is setting up the boundaries of his territory by loudly singing. It was a "cacaphony" of sounds this morning.

After having observed this bittern for some time, far out in the middle of the marsh, it suddenly jumped up and flew directly toward me and across the boardwalk into a different spot.

It does show the bright yellow undertail coverts very well in this image.

After she had flown a bit further into the trees I picked her up again and this time the light was better and no anoying branches, just that one in front of the hawk."dang".!

This doe and her last years twin fawns were not quite sure what to do next. The fawns are now almost as big as their mother which is the one in the center.

Das Hintergrundbild zu Windows XP hängt über einem Seitenausgang vom Eistobel...

Looks like the background they used für Windows XP hangs above a side exit from Eistobel gorge, near the town of Isny. And you can almost imagine the Tellytubbies coming dancing down the hill...

I hear them all the time but this time it perched nicely for me.

This will be the last of the short-eared owl posts.

It was nice to be able to witness this owl species, doing what they do and to come home with some images.

Beaver county, AB.

Photographed while on my search for the Burrowing owl in SE Alberta. This fox came in view while I was in my humble primitive camp.

Re-located once again. The male buzzed her once more and she left for a more peaceful area to eat the vole.

It was one of those days, A weather front had passed the day before and there were many of them around. They were in the trees, against the treetrunks and even on the ground. Another three months and I hope to see them again.Grandin pond pk.St.Albert, AB.

Inspired by the worlds most well known wallpaper the Windows XP 'Bliss'. I'm loving the long days summer brings on and living in the country. Plenty of shooting opportunities after work and close to home.
