Snuck into the field this morning to get some shots of this WTK eating breakfast on this piling of branches. He flapped his wings on a couple occasions in between taking bites.
I saw this WTK from a distance going to town on prey this morning. I followed trail towards him as quickly and quietly as I could. There was a hiker coming towards him so I had to act fast because I knew he would flush it. So I anticipated this and knew I had to sit back and wait for the flush from the hiker. As a result, some inflight frames with breakfast.
I removed a branch in the background behind the wing because it was distracting...and because I was bored :)
The background really was that color.

This gentleman didn't realize WTK was hunting straight down behind him. But he got his helmet on. He was okay.
這位腳踏車騎士不知道白尾鳶自他的後方直落下覓食,好在他戴了安全帽,而且小鷹是在找尋老鼠,平常不會主動攻擊人,所以大家都沒事。

Some time back, we watched a pair of nesting White-tailed Kites. It was a delightful experience to watch a complete food exchange. It was distant, but I have never been able to photograph or even watch a whole sequence. It was amazing!
In addition to bringing food to the female, the male WTK has to patrol the area around the nest and chase off intruders.
A WTK about to enjoy fresh caught breakfast. Its mate was perched nearby. It caught prey again today but was in a very obscured area.

Made a quick excursion this morning and found this very friendly WTK sitting there just outside my car window just before sunrise. I spent most of the morning with him. He was successful catching prey later on, but cars started to show up and getting those shots were a little tricky. In the end I was able to drive close to him and grab lots of prey shots just before another car flushed him.

Early one morning up on the hill I
spotted a hunting party ? Waiting to
capture a WTK ? Merlin ? or maybe
a lone Kestrel ? you never know at
Coyote Hills ....
Either the crows, a GHO or hawks attacked the white-tailed kite nest early this morning. Only one parent seems to be around and this chick was seen in a tree in the yard of a neighbor hiding.

In times of upheaval, change, uncertainty and a decline in values,
of lies and disorientation, it is always helpful to return to the basis,
the nature of things, and to one's own history.
In the case of the Western musical tradition,
this is the art of Johann Sebastian Bach, who - like nature itself -
creates compositions with the greatest freedom and virtuosity using very few resources, which are perfect on all levels of music
(melody, harmony, timing, form, emotion).
My interpretation of the second book of the
'Well-Tempered Clavier' (rarely performed in its entirety)
does not use a sustaining pedal; it is characterized by
the strictest articulation and motivic characterisation,
clearly drawn architecture and polyphony,
but at the same time by freedom at all levels of interpretation.
The result is a 'new' Bach - completely uninfluenced by other interpretations of this masterpiece.
