I had planned to take an IC225 to Edinburgh, but it wasn't to be. My train, which left from platform 0, was an IC125. Just one platform away, seen here in platform 1, was an IC225 set.
I was walking down by the river, and wanted a shot of the autumn leaves with the buildings on the far bank. Then realised I hadnt brought my wider lens with me... But I like the resulting colours.
When things go wrong, as they sometimes will,
When the road you're trudging seems all uphill,
When the funds are low and the debts are high,
And you want to smile, but you have to sigh,
When care is pressing you down a bit,
Rest, if you must, but don't you quit.
Life is queer with its twists and turns,
As every one of us sometimes learns,
And many a failure turns about,
When he might have won had he stuck it out;
Don't give up though the pace seems slow--
You may succeed with another blow.
Often the goal is nearer than,
It seems to a faint and faltering man,
Often the struggler has given up,
When he might have captured the victor's cup,
And he learned too late when the night slipped down,
How close he was to the golden crown.
Success is failure turned inside out--
The silver tint of the clouds of doubt,
And you never can tell how close you are,
It may be near when it seems so far,
So stick to the fight when you're hardest hit--
It's when things seem worst that you must not quit.

Something is wrong with KTP crystal, pumping laser diode adjustment...
KTP crystal has THREE (!!!) angles at which it behave as it is phase matched (type 2 phase matching). Something is wrong with cavity adjustment, but just one of three screws are accessible (front OC is GLUED to the housing, or it is just a mask for the OC?!). I can try adjust this one screw, but what with other two?!
Note that every optics are at slightly different angles - that is because they want to avoid any possibility to reflected light screwing up quality of the output beam, no matter there are many AR coatings (it still can reflect 0.1% - 0.5% of the green, or more...).
Its very rare that you see a Stagecoach Supertram with the wrong destination screen - presumably tram 105 was running a Purple service from Herdings, changed to a Yellow service to Meadowhall but the driver input the wrong "Yellow" destination?
This is a recent ttv piece I donated to the Art Conspiracy fund-raising event last week. www.artconspiracy.org/
150 artists are given 18x18 boards and the art is created the day before the big show and auction. Most of the pieces are paintings and there were only 4-5 photographs.
I printed this one without the usual ttv border that helps define images shot with the technique because I envisioned painting outward to continue the scene. I planned to find a real painter to do that for me on creation day but my friend and Art Conspiracy guru, Erica Felicella, www.cellaarts.com/ told me to try it myself. So off I went to Home Depot to get some spray paint and give it a go. When I was finished and showed it to Erica she said, "now you're a multi-media artist." Hah! Imagine that.
I was only able to drop in for the show and auction for a few minutes and found out later that my piece fetched $210. I've donated to this worthy cause for three years and have yet to be able to watch an auction. That must be fun to do to see who is interested in shelling out a chunk of change for your work.
