i think this photo explains itself. I also think this photo relates so well with what's going on in my mind right now that i actually feel like crying.
regrets, to me, are these horrible feelings that eat at you until you breakdown. I mean really, a year ago, how was i to know how my life would be right now? how was i supposed to realize that a decision i made a year ago would have a huge effect on me now? i find it so...mind blowing, that making an "on-the-spot-decision" a year ago, would change so many things that are happening in my life right now. It may be a person you met, something you said, things you did.
Let's say on the way to a friend's place you bumped into an old friend and reconnected with that person, and since then you have been inseparable. What if you left your house just one minute before or after that? Would you still have bumped into that old friend and reconnected with them? I mean, it all comes down to fate, right? It was fate that brought you two together again to rekindle a friendship. In other words, a coincidence. I don't really believe in fate, but coincidences? to me that's more believable. And that is what i think life is pretty much based on.
i've just been rambling, sorry. But i guess my point in this is, i have to forget about all those "coincidences" that have fallen upon me and just start fresh. No more thinking about what "might've" been, instead i should just create a new path for myself and follow along with it.

Historically I’ve never been good with words in a creative sense. Consequently I have a huge respect for those who are capable of painting a picture in your mind, of what is in their mind, via the words they write on a page. This is something I’ve never been good at, and subsequently when it comes to describing what certain scenes mean to me in words, I always feel I come up short.
In any case though, I can say that I find scenes like this harrowing, as I can’t help but feel a sense of sorrow and pitty for the tree, and a sense of trepidation for us as the onlookers. Trees form part of the lungs of our planet, and though this may or may not depict any direct result of our effect on the planet, I feel like it is a good reminder to myself to try and do what I can to minimise my personal effect on the world around me, and where possible leave it in a better state than it was found in.

A few minutes past midnight and while looking out the window enjoying the New Years fireworks I noticed these two making their way across the rooftop looking for a vantage spot to call their own. Watching them cross the top reminded me of so many films and with the explosions of fireworks it was an easy jump as the scene itself was a bit surreal. If they had drawn swords and began to fight then and there I would not have been surprised.
Happy New Year to all of you. I am very much looking forward to the embrace of 2018. Cheers to you.

Happy Birthday America hope you all have an enjoyable and safe July 4th celebration .Wearing a mask is cool and they offer some protection to the wearer and other people just like speed limits on highways. How they became part of the culture wars is beyond my understanding.
This image is of the Old State House in Boston, Massachusetts. Built in 1713, it was the seat of the Massachusetts General Court until 1798, and is one of the oldest public buildings in the United States. One of the landmarks on Boston's Freedom Trail, it is the oldest surviving public building in Boston, and now serves as a history museum. Sadly the building is rather overshadowed by the towers of commerce .
I was reading the Declaration of Independence the other day even after 244 years it is still an inspiring document. The Founding Fathers certainly set a very high bar on how to organise a country and a system of government . They sound to me like a real bunch of liberals but then they were fighting for a revolution from autocratic rule by Great Britain . Gandhi, Mandela and Luther King all write on how the words of the declaration informed their beliefs

5 am. Its early and still pitch black outside. The house is cold and quiet as I wake up before my alarm and head to the kitchen to start the day with the soft sound of cat paws following close to me. I cherish this time in the morning when I make a pot of coffee and wait for it to brew, allowing the aroma of freshly brewing coffee to wash over me as my cat Louis looks at me with his own anticipation of morning pets. Our ritual is one of together. 10 minutes of peace is how each morning starts, a gift to myself , giving me a little meditation and focus for the busy day ahead. It isn’t much, 10 minutes, but the difference they make through the rest of the day is obvious to me and linger in little pieces that return to surprise me now and again. Selfishly, I think I will take an additional 5 and enjoy a second cup before allowing the day to sweep my away.

I am making my own little rounds through my neighborhood and slowly saying my goodbyes as the last days of being in Poznan are here. Almost done packing up and each morning I am out roaming the streets recalling all of the good that has happened over these last six years, all of the seasons, the fantastic people and wonderful moments that have inspired me and then inspired me again. In ons dagelijks leven gebruiken we veel papier. Als eerste toiletpapier, maar ook kladpapiertjes, papier om op te schrijven of tekenen, kranten, tijdschriften enz.
Onlangs is een foto van mij afgedrukt in Natuurfotografie, waar ik de tweede prijs mee had gewonnen in een photo challenge.
We use in our daily lives a lot of paper. We can think of toilet paper, paper to write on, books, newspapers and magazines. At that point I was thinking about the photograph I won the second prize in a challenge, which was published in Natuurfotografie. I made a picture of that paper for the challenge of today.

Beyond Breathtaking Boating Bliss Stunning Sunset Seaside Scene Perfection Permeating Place Presented - IMRAN™ (SOOC)
This truly is an example of why I boldly claim that no place in the world has as many perfect sunset sky scenes than I am blessed to see at my home in Apollo Beach on Tampa Bay, in Florida. Just take a look at that sky.
Not only is Tampa Bay the Super Bowl champion team again this year, it is a forever winner of showing magic in the sky almost every day.
This absolutely unedited, SOOC (straight out of camera), photo. The moment was captured with the nearly 14-years old Nikon D300., It only had my name added to it. I added it to the left lower corner instead of the usual right lower corner.
I did not want to have the watermark distract from the flow of vision as one's eyes notice the stunning sky and sun, the silhouetted trees, the dark silhouette of a boat, and a day-mark in the distance, towards the right edge of the frame.
There is no story to write on a sunset like this except, I bow my head, once again, at Maghreb prayer, to Allah, the One God, the Creator, the painter who makes a gazillion moments like this, many even beyond our wildest imaginations, occur around the universe every instant.

Hi guys! I've been wanting to do this photo for so long! This is a selfie looking very ghostlike. I put photos with detail in the comments, zoomed in at 100% :-D
I shot this with all the desks backwards, and then flipped the image in post to make the text backwards as well.
And a fun fact - I was trying to figure out what to write on the chalk board and Olivia suggested I write "Fear is the mind killer", which is what I have tattooed on my arm! So we did :-)

Meet Luna, my elusive little girl. She is not so fond of the camera and I have a hard time catching her with it, but today she was being dazzled by a sunny display and off her guard. We adopted her and her brother when they were only 9 weeks old and in our last apartment, the windows faced north and she has never really seen the sun nor sat in a sun spot..until today. Instant sun love is the only way to describe it.

One of the very few plants still flourishing this Winter in the outdoor beds of the Hortus is this Nemesia floribunda. In Afrikaans it's called Wild Lionsmouth. It was first collected and described by Christian Friedrich Ecklon (1795-1868), who explored in South Africa 1823-1828, returned home to Germany with a large collection, and then set off again to the Cape in 1838, where he died thirty years later. He's one of those intrepid exploring naturalists described in Mary Gunn and L.E. Codd's fabulous Botanical Exploration of Southern Africa. In their lemma on Ecklon, they even include - fortuitously for me today - a facsimile page of his corrections to a scribe's version of his plant list in which he crosses out a word and writes in his own hand: 'Leeuwenkop' (=Lion's Head; but the reference is to a Pelargonium not to our Nemesia...). One has to admire the energy with which Ecklon and fellow botanists traversed enormous areas hitherto unknown to Europeans.
Often when I return from the Hortus I wander off towards the IJ to look at the ships. In the Nieuwe Uilenburgerstraat I always admire this stone (see inset) in the facade of what was once a warehouse rebuilt around 1900. It pictures a rampant lion - appropriate for today's flower -, and is said to date from the beginning of the eighteenth century (1718). A drawing of it in the city archives was made by Hermanus M.J. Misset (1875-1958). But I'm at a loss what the lion is doing: it seems to be juggling with body parts... Anyone out there have an inkling?
Hic sunt leones: here be lions. That's what medieval mapmakers liked to write on areas unknown...

Bucket List Item completed....I was able to drive a tram! I am in the main Tram station getting ready to visit the tram I will test drive. So cool...I am still smiling today/I never had imagined that this wold happen but secretly hoped that one day I may be able to and now just a few days before moving to Warsaw I had the chance to do so. Have you seen the film "The Pianist" starring Adrian Brody? If you have then you already know the story of Mr. Szpilman. The story is based on the autobiographical book The Pianist, a World War II memoir by the Polish-Jewish pianist and composer Władysław Szpilman. This has been one of my favorite films and it made an impact on me when I saw it and the story itself has always amazed me and captivated my attention.
Last night, a few blocks from my new home, my finacee took me to the apartment where Władysław Szpilman was hidden for a year by Wilm Hosenfeld.
Outside of the residence you will find this art installation of "Guards" watchign the entrance to the hiding spot many years earlier. These are amazing pieces and very pronounced as you walk by them lit up at night. There is a commemorative plaque that also marks the spot.

Taking the fast Metro to a new spot in the city for a little Sunday adventure. My friend Sebatstian knows the city pretty well and is busy navigating me to all of the cool Vegetarian/Vegan restaurants throughout the city. Warsaw is now recognized as the city with the second or third largest and fastest growing Vegan/Vegetarian scenes...and the food is unbelievably delicious..
Anyway...I digress. We have two lines of Metro in the city, one longer and one short with another one planned. Very cool additional and super fast way tot get around the city if you are in the vicinity. Easy to navigate. I tend to like to take the trams so I can see out the window...but, a Metro once in a while is also pretty cool.

4/365 - A Fresh Start
I caught the bus into Eastbourne this morning and it was a bit chilly waiting at the stop.

The New Flickr Photo Page: Welcome to the Twilight Zone
Flickr’s new photo page has become a dark and dreary world: It has no light or life; It’s completely black. White space is nonexistent. We have gone from bad to worse, from light to darkness, from bright to dark, from cheerful to dreary. Flickr keeps insisting on eliminating white spaces from the website. Light, so essential to photography, is almost totally absent on the new photo page. It seems that the designers of these pages, ignoring the importance of white space and good design, have turned the photo page into nightmarish black hole that one even hesitates to enter. There is enough darkness in life and in the world to have Flickr turned the photo page into a twilight zone. All text is reverse now and difficult to read. Comments seem like an insignificant appendix on a side bar. There’s nothing under the photo. No up and down movement, only on the sidebar.
My biggest complaint is about the black with reverse text. This is not reader friendly at all. It may be great for designing websites with little text, but on Flickr there is a lot of commenting and reading going on all the time. This page design is probably the aborted child of a nonreader (the legions today allergic to books), because a reader would never design a page so anti reading and unpleasant to the eye as this one. Who wants to read and write on a black page with text in reverse? Now if you want to write more than one or two lines, who is going to stay on your page long enough to read it on a black sidebar on the right side of the photo page that minimizes the importance of comments? With the new page design we have one more reason not to comment and to spend even less time on Flickr.
Flickr seems to be autodestructing because they don’t listen to reason. Wisdom is in the counsel of many. They would not listen, even though a Flickr team member, Satish Mummareddy, said that they “have incorporated a lot of the feedback you have been sharing with us and we believe that Flickr’s experience is ready to be the default experience for everyone” . Well, I’m not sure that they really pay that much attention to what we have to say.
The buddy icon now is a port hole. We are all in the same dark and dreary ship, looking out, not through a large panoramic window, but through a tiny port hole. That port hole represents the whole experience on the new Flickr photo page. This new design is so claustrophobic and prison like that it serves to make us feel more isolated and distant from our contacts and the rest of Flickr, not closer and more in touch. Where is the improvement here? I want to know. Speed? Fine, we needed that, but not at the expense of functionality, user friendliness and a really appealing to the eye photo page.
Marissa Mayer said: “We want to make Flickr awesome again”. Well, the new photo page is certainly not the way to accomplish that goal.

I don’t like owning a lot of stuff and dream of downsizing our house someday. I do, however, have a few collections of things. Notebooks and bandanas are two things I have more of than I really need. They’re useful collections, though, and give me immense joy. They don’t take up much space and the designs on them are like collecting tiny pieces of art that I can delight in.
I have stickers, magnets, and Kula cloths with my Seclusive Nature design on them. It was high time I had a bandana and notebook made. They came out perfect! This also happens to be photo # 100 in my “Write On!” collection and it couldn’t be a more fitting photo for it.
