“And I write poetry on anything that comes to hand .., pink paper with yellow lines all creased and crumpled and slightly torn; brown paper bags that once contained Shiitake mushrooms for a soup; my favourite dark chocolate with sea salt cardboard wrappers and empty envelopes with stamps from far-off places where I will never go or never go again. Poets write on anything that comes to hand.
And I know the anxiety of being a wallflower
and I know all the perks.
And I know all the jerks that passed me by
or those that tried to prise me from the wall.
And I know what the cold is like
when I'm on the outside looking in.
And I know who will be there to catch me when I fall.
And I know what it's like to be a lost soul
wandering alone in the Universe.
And I know what it's like to find a friendship
that fills up all the gaps in me;
completes me like nothing else could ever do.
And I know what it's like to lose myself when I lost you
and the Universe imploded in on me.
And I know what it's like to miss you every day to Infinity and Beyond … simply é …
And I know more much more ...” - AP

Lights & Motion ~ "We Are Infinite"
CIPRIAN …
Eyes so brown with flecks of yellow
nutbrown struck by sunlight
walk through fields of Springtime meadows
wildflowers swaying in delight
arm in arm and minds on nothing
living dreams that lift our souls
stop to eat when we get hungry
sip mushroom soup from chipped and yellowed melamine bowls
exchanging glances shyly hesitant
small smiles turned up at the corners
I did not know this was goodbye
that I would be an absentee among the mourners
how many years has it been now
it feels like only yesterday
still I think I'll one day see you
when the rain storms come and slant my way
I left the crucifix to dangle
to keep me safe on the less-travelled road
I think of that small clip from that film I did not show here
that one entwined within our code
we talked in shorthand when we spoke
or with a smile or with our eyes
the friendship rose and fell again
then rose again just like the sunrise
some things may always be left unspoken
sometimes words are not enough
but we knew that friendship lasts
beyond infinity although it's tough
I still read your poetry
still read between those beautiful lines
and browse through your photography
so much deleted those words of mine
but not your fault but deep within me
was something broken and you could see
and though I did not realise it back then
you protected me from knowing your destiny
I can thank you for many reasons
for being there throughout my trials
a rock a guiding hand held out through all four seasons
remembering your beautiful smiles
to feel the love you had for life
still tangible though you are gone
I can feel you close beside me
whenever I need to be more strong
I rarely met anyone else like you
whose aura was so bright
you saw behind my eyes of blue
to the sorrow that denied my light
you never gave up on me I know
you wanted me to know what life is for
I try to remember all you taught me
I miss you always and simply more …

Dedicated to my beloved friend, Ciprian
A poet and the most beautiful human being you could ever wish to meet. To know him was to love him and when he passed he left the biggest hole in the Universe. I don't think I shall ever see his like again in this incarnation anyway …
Two long years and I still miss you though you are everywhere
In the rain and in the yellow
To Infinity and beyond … simply é …
Iubirea mea pentru tine nu va muri niciodata
We spoke mostly in French, but I did try to speak Romanian sometimes and he would smile indulgently. He recognised the child-like innocence in me that wants everyone and everything to be alright. He encouraged me in my writing and indulged my childish tantrums because he knew that like all things they would pass and he knew the reasons for them and accepted my brokeness because it is part of who I am. That was Ciprian … all-accepting; never just loving one small part of me, but embracing all of me with all the frailties and complexities within my nature. Oh, and one more thing, he loved cats and I would have loved him just for that ; 0) There are many different kinds of love. Our love was pure. The love borne of friendship and shared love of poetry and our minds always questioning everything.
I send my love and respect to dear Ciprian's wife who made his life so very happy. She was the love of his life and he of hers. If I feel the loss of my friend so deeply I can only imagine how hard it is for her to bear. My heart goes out to her on this day, the second anniversary of his passing.
Yes. Drama indeed. So Meriwether Lewis (1774-1809), leader of the over-famous Lewis and Clark Expedition to the Louisiana Purchase, was also an avid plant collector. At Three Forks, Montana, he on July 29, 1805 picked Ribes odoratum - soon under the name of Ribes aureum -, and wondrously that specimen is still today preserved. The other specimens he collected were destroyed by a rising of the Missouri River, and he notes sadly on July 13, 1806: 'all my specimens of plants also lost'. This botany would have been even more tragic if it had been the cause of Lewis's murder or suicide at Grinder's Stand, Tennessee, in 1809.
A few years later in 1811, Thomas Nuttall (1786-1859) and John Bradbury (1768-1823), members of the so-called Astoria Expedition along the Missouri River, also collected our Odoratum. I'm too lazy to find out where Nuttall found it, but Bradbury - in whom I'm more interested - collected it on Little Cedar Island, Missouri. A bit of a drama queen - it would seem - he claimed that Frederick Traugott Pursh (1774-1820), in contrast to his middle name I guess, stole his plant (and others) and his description for his own as Ribes aureum in his Flora Americae Septentrionalis (1814). Bradbury thereafter refused ever again to write on botany!
Leaving drama and tragedy behind, -The Botanical Register in 1816 - with a sneer to the flowers of the genus as a whole - writes ecstatically: 'With us this pretty shrub has as yet no other value than that which arises from a colour and fragrance of blossom unlooked for in this genus; but in its native place it is highly prized for the excellence of the fruit, which is said to be larger than any of our more common garden sorts.'
Before I forget: 'Wendl.' is for Heinrich Ludolph Wendland (1791-1869), who officially described our Ribes in 1825. In his description he remarks rather sourly that he doesn't know whether Pursh is right in acclaiming Odoratum's fragrance, but that in 'matters of taste there can be no dispute'.

What I know about flowers you could write on the back of a postage stamp!
However, I noticed this bloom last week in the grounds of Hinton Ampner, a National Trust property in Hampshire. I liked the shape of the flower and particularly the colour - perfection in nature!

Sorry for the handwriting, it s difficult to write on a little touch screen!
...And thanks to all of you!
Not for the proud man apart
From the raging moon I write
On these spindrift pages
Nor for the towering dead
With their nightingales and psalms
But for the lovers, their arms
Round the griefs of the ages,
Who pay no praise or wages
Nor heed my craft or art.

One of my favourite memories from our cottage, SPINDRIFT, on Lake Huron in the Bruce Peninsula, Ontario, Canada...
SPINDRIFT:
spray swept by a violent wind along the surface of the sea.

Sunday afternoons with the family watching slides were one of the most beautiful memories, moments made of images, slides, but also emotions. Many don't even know what these slides are, or they only know the name. They were like old normal analogue films but instead of being negative, they were positive as used in our old cameras. Colored or b/w and after being developed was mounted on square frames, usually made of plastic or cardboard to be projected onto a screen with a projector. They were called "slide films" or "reversal films" produced and sold by Kodak from 1939, under the "Kodachrome" brand, until they were abandoned in 2009. But those born in the 70s and early 80s had the opportunity to get to know them and touch them firsthand. So imagine the scene: in a darkened room, a white wall or a huge sheet spread out as best as possible as a screen… almost HD technology while the whole family in a semicircle to relive the highlights of holidays or events. Projectors in the right position, focus done and OK! The show can begin. The operator in charge, usually was the “Dad photographer” who had the responsibility of making the slides slide, with a regular rhythm and also commenting on them, with a short memory. Even poorly made and out-of-focus slides could be useful; with a marker was possible to write on the scene the titles, the date and some comments... a sort of manual editing using a superfine tip permanent marker. During the show there were many exclamations, the “Wahoo …” for nice photos or raspberries, and also inevitable snorts for some possible offstage… In my opinion, today that we are in the digital age, these dear old slides, now anachronistic, despite all their limitations and imperfections, offered great warmth and conviviality... while our cold and very perfect digital platforms will never be able to offer us. Sorry if I'm nostalgic!

here is lulu's "blood bank of hawai'i" public service television spot!
(the dog star sirius-ly has nothing on lulu :)
a pun-as-homage to the generous, wonderful Bill Adams who made this possible.. :)
HUGE thanks to Bill for transposing this from vcr to dvd and then to flickr-friendly digital! (he even arranged to have the vcr transported from our island to his!)
no way i could ever thank Bill enough for this Gift .. truly a gift that keeps on giving ~~~
our luluheart was 2 1/2 when she made this .. and it was on t.v. (all the time :) here in hawai'i for 5 years!
(they called it - thus her - "fred" .. afterwards they said they wished they had changed the name because lulu did such a great job bringing in blood donors with this t.v. spot that it deserved to be called "lulu" :)
am so happy you get to see her dear wiggly-joyful walk and wagging tail! :)))
my favorite part is sweet-subtle.. if you look carefully, you can see her eyes open and her eyebrows go up just as it fades to white in the middle of the video..
this is a wee way for us to express our thanks to you for sending precious lulu your love-filled healing blessings ~~*
as soon as i'm able to gather some moments (and my thoughts), will write on the other image about how she is doing
our hearts are full of lovelight for you, each one *

A photo shouldn't need a title and a description to convey what it wants to convey, should it? Yet there is a place here where it says, please fill one in, and I don't like leaving them empty. It feels like publishing something unfinished.
A music album doesn't need cover art, strictly speaking. But it needs a cover to protect the record or the CD, and a cover without something on it is a space left empty and unused. If nothing else, you probably want to write on it the name of the album and who released it. And what it's about. And why not do that in a way, that's creative in itself. It's music, not an audio tutorial on how to repair a dishwasher. And even that would need some kind of label. Do bands need logos? I'd say no, but the well made ones always seem to represent the music in a visual way. Or is that just a metal thing?
In fact I'd say, even the simplest cover you could design, just printing the name and the author, requires a choice. Which font. Which color. How big the writing? Centered, in the top, in a corner?
Back to pictures... what do they even convey? Little more than "look at this place, this scene, this thing that I found. Nice, iddn' it?" Does that need a caption? Just a description what there is to see? Too simple still. Always finding a title, and not always the same for very similar pictures? Too difficult. And then they and up catching dust on the hard drive here.
But then, I turned this one here black and white, and reduced brightness. So apparently whatever the picture conveys, it needed adjusting. Perhaps the empty space is somewhere else entirely.

They were made to increase rank thu soul count and to be drained, their blood sold, so common among Bloodlines players.
They look real. but they stand in groups - around 40 of them - on a platform. After serving their Bloodlines purpose, they are now bots. Forever standing, empty, fake, silent (but for JayrodDrew, who has a talking script if you write on local).
40 bots day and night have increased traffic there to 36,000++.
When I saw them, vacant pixel corpses, some 6 months old, I wished they were real, alive people 'behind' them, with a happy soul.

Grazie e divertitevi!
Ciao!
This is the third challenge in our game between me and him.
This theme courtesy of Koan:
"A hand cannot write on itself."
From the ninth book, "The Book of Secrets", in Peter Greenaway's The Pillow Book.
You're invited to go and see the other one as well and vote the pic you prefer most by writing S for the sarmax's one, or C if you prefer the confusedvision's instead (you can fave them both if you like though, we won't be offended! :-)
Thank you & enjoy!
This is the hardest post I’m having to write. On Wednesday we let our beautiful girl go...Misty passed peacefully at home with us by her side.
Right now it’s just too painful...I know in my head that it was the right time, but my heart and emotions are overwhelming any rational thoughts...
I don’t have any pictures this week, so I’m posting an old picture of her that speaks my heart...I hope that’s okay. I just wish for her soul to be free now. Be free and run and sniff to your heart’s content, my love. It’s not a goodbye because you’ll always live in our hearts...
==============================
El Roi, I will miss you
As the Duisburg Zoo announced today, the tiger El Roi was euthanized on Friday, September 30, 2022.
El-Roi's motor skills were severely limited due to his high age of 18 for a big cat, and his appetite had recently decreased.
"Since his condition had deteriorated significantly in the past week due to his age, the treating veterinarians, together with the attending animal keepers, decided to take the difficult but unavoidable step of letting El-Roi go," the zoo writes on its Facebook page.
El Roi was born on May 27, 2004 in Munich's Hellabrunn Zoo and has lived in Duisburg since 2006. Together with his partner Dasha, he repeatedly provided for offspring. While Makar and Arila (both born in 2016) have long since found a new home in other zoos, his youngest children Kasimir and Malinka (both born in 2021) still live in Duisburg.

The palace was built in the years 1891–1893 for an entrepreneur from Łódź, Arnold Stiller. The area at the then 75 Cegielniana Street (currently 45 Stefana Jaracza Street) was located opposite the Stiller and Juliusz Bielszowski wool factories. The architectural design of the building referred to the French and Italian Neo-Renaissance. The surviving copy of the project is signed by Hilary Majewski, but its authorship is debatable. Krzysztof Stefański writes on this subject: the architecture of the building definitely resembles the works of the Berlin company "Kayser & Groszheim" and perhaps its creator should be sought in Berlin.
Apart from the residential building, a stable, a coach house, a gardener's house and an orangery were also built. In the years 1899–1901, a southern wing, a circular staircase and a tower were added to the palace. The author of the extension project, introducing elements of Dutch mannerism, was Dawid Lande. The decoration designed by Lande is described as renaissance with an admixture of gothic forms. There are also Art Nouveau elements.
Series - the city through my eyes.
.
(...) Like a fresh sacrifice; or, if i can bear
The o’erwhelming sweets, ’twill bring me to the fair
Visions of all places: a bowery nook
Will be Elysium - an eternal book
Whence i may copy many a lovely saying
About the leaves, and flowers - about the playing
Of nymphs in woods, and fountains; and the shade
Keeping a silence round a sleeping maid;
And many a verse from so strange influence
That we must ever wonder how, and whence
It came. Also imaginings will hover
Round my fire-side, and haply there discover
Vistas of solemn beauty, where i’d wander
In happy silence, like the clear meander
Through its lone vales; and where i found a spot
Of awfuller shade, or an enchanted grot,
Or a green hill o’erspread with chequered dress
Of flowers, and fearful from its loveliness,
Write on my tablets all that was permitted,
All that was for our human senses fitted.
Then the events of this wide world i’d seize
Like a strong giant, and my spirit teaze
Till at its shoulders it should proudly see
Wings to find out an immortality.

Trying to remain positive... telling myself...
~"Beautiful things come into your life when you get rid of all the negativity.
"Your present situation is not your destination"
~"You are already stronger than you think by simply surviving."
~"Always be thankful, it could be worse."
And then someone writes on their FB page...
"I love you all.
Except you.
You know who you are.
You suck."
...and I immediately think of two people and possibly a third.... that do... suck.
True colors. Thank God for the people in my life that I can count on... that continually offer me their help and support, even when I insist that everything is under control. (Oh,who am I kidding.... when has anything EVER been under control?!!"
Yes.... I love all of you.... except..... well, yeah, there are a few. There's that negativity again. *sigh*

Hey you guys,
while looking through several streams i found some inspiration for a new photo at the stream of TessOlivia. and here it is. It worked out just like i wanted it to.
So i had the idea but i still had to look for a text. But this wasn't that difficult. I chose the lyric "through glass" written by the band Stone Sour. I thought this was the perfect text to write on my glasses. I hope you like my picture.

I have had so many of you tell me that you love reading my descriptions, sometimes even more than my photos, and that you are inspired by our love and passion for each other. So I have decided to do a set to share the secrets to keeping our marriage fun and fulfilling, happy and healthy, as well as sweet and sexy! I guess I'll call the set "Sexy Secrets" Maybe you can help me by asking questions that you want answered and I will answer them with a picture and a post.
So here's Sexy Secret #1
Give each other rewards cards. For example I will write on a small card, "This coupon is redeemable for a full body massage." Then I give it to her when I feel like rewarding her. She can use the coupon at any time. She usually uses it when she's about to take a bubble bath. She loves massages in the bath tub. Btw, some of the rewards cards we receive from each other are too sexy to share. =)
Dawn. Beautiful start to the day, don't you agree? Just me and the ducks here to see this beauty! Have a great day wherever you roam. :)

yes i did just write on my phone screen with a fine marker haha
i think this photo explains itself. I also think this photo relates so well with what's going on in my mind right now that i actually feel like crying.
regrets, to me, are these horrible feelings that eat at you until you breakdown. I mean really, a year ago, how was i to know how my life would be right now? how was i supposed to realize that a decision i made a year ago would have a huge effect on me now? i find it so...mind blowing, that making an "on-the-spot-decision" a year ago, would change so many things that are happening in my life right now. It may be a person you met, something you said, things you did.
Let's say on the way to a friend's place you bumped into an old friend and reconnected with that person, and since then you have been inseparable. What if you left your house just one minute before or after that? Would you still have bumped into that old friend and reconnected with them? I mean, it all comes down to fate, right? It was fate that brought you two together again to rekindle a friendship. In other words, a coincidence. I don't really believe in fate, but coincidences? to me that's more believable. And that is what i think life is pretty much based on.
i've just been rambling, sorry. But i guess my point in this is, i have to forget about all those "coincidences" that have fallen upon me and just start fresh. No more thinking about what "might've" been, instead i should just create a new path for myself and follow along with it.

Film Noir moments lead me onto a fun and imaginative walk home as the entire "film" plays out and all of the interesting characters fall into place. Here we have the "femme fatale" on her way to meet the protagonist.

New Years Eve Showdown 122.365
Poznan, Poland
Jezyce District
Winter
A few minutes past midnight and while looking out the window enjoying the New Years fireworks I noticed these two making their way across the rooftop looking for a vantage spot to call their own. Watching them cross the top reminded me of so many films and with the explosions of fireworks it was an easy jump as the scene itself was a bit surreal. If they had drawn swords and began to fight then and there I would not have been surprised.
Happy New Year to all of you. I am very much looking forward to the embrace of 2018. Cheers to you.
