ART.WRITE.NOW Tour, a selection of works from the prestigious Scholastic Art & Writing Awards, is currently on exhibit in our Swigert Commons! The exhibit represents a small sample of the Alliance’s annual national exhibition, which in 2011 showcased more than 600 works from teens in grades 7 through 12.

The ART.WRITE.NOW Tour is central to the Alliance’s mission to provide recognition for creative teens and to highlight the value of arts education," said Virginia McEnerney, Executive Director of the Alliance for Young Artists & Writers. "The exhibition gives visitors a body of top-notch art that we hope will inspire them to appreciate creative teens for their maturity, talent and originality."

This exhibit is amazing, and is well worth the trip to PNCA if you are in Portland!

Write The Docs EU 2014

Blogger in action. In the foreground, my trusty (hefty) laptop. In the background, the Bollin valley just north of Macclesfield.

It's normally a toss-up as to whether I'll get my laptop out or listen to the at-seat audio entertainment. Sometimes I even bring a book with me.

Just being a nerd here and leaving the shutter open for 20 seconds on the camera while I write my name backward with a pen light. Yeah...I'm a loser.

I write very small and go through phases where I document everything. EVERYTHING. The important thing being that it's readable and interesting for me to read at another time.

Write The Docs EU 2014

Part of my BFA Thesis show. I could write pages on this work (and I have), but to keep it simple it is largely a representation of my interactions with my painful medical condition (as well as anyone who shares in it, or similar) and the strange headspaces it causes me to enter.

The layout is representative of a poem or narrative despite the pieces having no coherent story, only repeating figures.

It was hung accompanied by five poems in reflection of this which further detailed my situation. Those can be found at my poetry blog:
