This is a reworking of a design produced in 2013. It celebrates four literary figures associated with the Royal Burgh of Irvine (3 visitors who resided in the town for varying lengths of time and 1 native, John Galt).

Hi from a premature baby born in 1967

I have been surfing the web for some time, and I wanted to sign your petition but was unsure as to what to write! I would like to tell you my story for your site to see if I can help.

I was born in April 1967, six weeks early, weighing 2lbs 15oz. I was expected to die the night I was born and I was in an incubator for 6 weeks.

I feel my precarious start in life has had an effect on me. Having read various information from your site and others, some things ring true, learning difficulties, bad eyesight, weak leg etc I believe are all due to my early start in life. I am only 5' tall too! Perhaps I am thinking of this more as I will be 40 in a few weeks.

Having had 2 healthy children to term, weighing 6lbs 6oz and 6lbs 10oz both were normal deliveries - and having read my baby book I realize how behind I was regarding development - I have caught up in the end, over come dyslexia and even got a good design degree. When I tell people, I know, with children they are stunned at how little I weighed at birth and survived. I think my mother had pre-eclampsia and may have smoked but I am not sure of the latter. I have also survived a rare form of skin cancer too!

I have read your information and have often wondered why statistics and research started in the late 1980's when I was in my 20's to track the effects of being born prematurely. Please can you put me in touch with any other people with a similar experience to myself if you know any! I would be quite fascinated to meet some one else. Do you have any statistics dating from the 1960's about the survival rates of premature babies, from what I have read I am pretty lucky!!

As I am approaching my 40th Birthday I am trying to look upon my prematurity as a really positive thing rather than a disability.

I would like to help your charity - even if it is just my story! All the message boards seem to support parents of premature babies, but not the babies themselves or when they are older. And none for the mature premature baby!

I really would be grateful of any information that you could give me.

Regards,

Emma

Ready to go, the 1940s Smith Corona portable typewriter, sitting on an old oak one drawer table, which has a warped top that I have been too lazy to get around to fixing by using a little water, my lawn in the summer sun to counter warp it back to flat and level. As it is the cupped top keeps the words from rolling off to the floor where my cat would likely eat them.

Jaime wrote and sent all our postcards our first day there so they would get home before we did.

Thought I would upload a SP so I can write a ditty on here!

I have been busy, as per usual lately. I have two weddings fully edited, and one to go. Between that, I attend school full time for a welding/fitting program. Luckily the semester is almost done, and I will have a sweet Christmas break :)

I haven't really been out to shoot much nature, which makes me feel crappy, but I will be out in the next little while. My fur babies (Vincent and Courtney) are doing great, as is my l'amour! We are all busy with life stuff and having fun with the new truck!

That's enough for now, I hope you all are having a great 'beginning' of winter! I have already built a snowman! :)
