I love these Vans, I wear them when I'm slumming it on the weekends.

Worn. Damaged. Broken. Frayed.
Thats what we are. We're unable to hold ourselves together.
We physically and mentally do not have the strength to do it.
What have we become? Where has our innocence and childhood gone?
What is innocence nowadays? We're are exposed to things they shouldn't have to deal with until later in life.
Is it so hard to be who we truly are without the judgement? Without the hatred?
When will we truly figure out who we are and what our purpose is?
I know that you're hurting. Because I am hurting too.
I am worn. My heart strings are frayed. My emotions are damaged. My life is broken.
We pray, to Him for help.
We ask, for forgiveness.
We beg, for a new beginning.
Yet despite how hard we try to feel whole again, it never ends up working out the way we plan.
We are all alone in our world. We are born as individuals and we die as individuals. Despite how much we need people in our life, and despite how much they may stick by our side. We die as sole beings.
And nothing can stop that.
For me, I feel as if I was born alone, and not only that I am now dying alone, but that I am living alone.
And it hurts more than anything ever has.

Seen recently as I was leaving this fairly local wood.
The first I have seen this year and first photographed since before covid, so though not in good condition it was nevertheless of interest.
These photos are part of a broader documentary exploring the enduring effects of declining heavy industry. They were captured in and around Marchienne-au-Pont, a neighborhood of Charleroi in southern Belgium that historically played a vital role in Wallonia's coal and steel industries.
Unlike completely abandoned sites, these places are still in operation — but barely. Their structures display signs of deterioration: rusted silos, collapsing walls, and deteriorating fencing. They seem more connected to the past than the present, yet they still serve a purpose, for now.
Looking at these photos again, I often recall Bruce Springsteen's music — tales of industrial towns, working lives, and places caught between their past and future. The mood varies here, but the overall feeling remains strangely familiar.

But, by the end of her photoshoot, she was worn out & needed a serious nap.
At least it was a photogenic place to fall asleep.

It amazes me all the detail the camera can see that I can't.
Shot for Macro Mondays, B&W, but I'll probably use a different photo.
A faded looking CN SD75I 5760 is leading Toronto-London CN A43531 15 out of Mac Yard onto the Halton Outbound with 63 cars in tow and 4200FT total length.
Badly damaged railroad wheel set apparently changed out and left trackside for eventual pickup.
Notice the worn flat spots at the top of the wheel.
