the neon and glittering -

the aged, well loved
battered -
even the forgotten.

and the stories they tell,
scratched and stained and marred
with bits and marks of a life
lived sometimes well and
sometimes badly -
loudly, imperfectly,
true and
truly lived.

At the end of all these struggles, one sometimes just feels worn out. The other side may look green, but for how long.

The owner told me this barn was built in the early 60's - it shows its wear - but still a cozy home for the cattle! Used some textures and played with saturation.

This book entitled "The King's England - Sussex" by Arthur Mee, was first published in 1937, although this is a fifth edition from 1950.

Happy Window Wednesday....the tiny windows shape up for a face with a padlock for a nose and a wry little grin....
Smile on Saturday, comic scene
As the river of water meandered through the forest, we too meandered with it, but sticking close to the well worn path. With each step, we kept moving lower into the forest realizing that at some point it would be necessary to climb back up. Fortunately, the many wonders of nature prevented us from moving too quickly.
The undulating floor and various bare roots, made one look were one was walking. A vividly green fern helps too anchor this shot, while thriving in a crevasse among the moss covered rocks. And, the cloud covered sky helped even out the light, preventing any harsh shadows.
Sometimes I feel like this. Yet still bricked with beauty and character.
This was taken a few years ago in Ingersoll Ontario. Old train station. I have been thinking of visiting this again to see if she is still there.

We had sunshine again today and Cleo left the house for the first time in months, if only for 15 minutes. It seems that she had an overdose of fresh air because after her short garden excursion she dropped into her cat bed and slept the rest of the afternoon.
I love the rock at the bottom of the falls. It's been worn down over the years and has little channels like small canyons carved through it's top. In some ways, it's a microcosm of the Sipsey itself.
This is the first waterfall you come to from the upper parking lot at the Sipsey Recreation area. It's about 200-300 yards on the right.

Some ancient Jizo figures in Kyoto, Japan. These little statues which line footpaths near temples are regarded as the protectors of travellers, children and unborn babies. Newer ones usually wear a red bib and/or woollen hat. Some local people are still dressing some of these older figures.
