Utah Railway’s former Southern Pacific SD45s No. 9144, 9146, 9148, and 9147 pull a Wattis Plateau coal train around the Barry Curve west of Payson, Utah the afternoon of Oct. 9, 1987. These well-worn 45s were leased by the Utah Railway from Helm Financial for five years, pictured on a run through from Provo to Intermountain Power on Union Pacific’s Provo Subdivision.

And yet, if you look closely, you can see a heart-shape. There's always something to love. Without intending to be patronizing, it makes me think of people - and animals - who bear battle scars from a tough life and years of struggle to survive another day. Emotionally and physically worn out but nevertheless they have a heart and it keeps beating in hope of better tomorrows. They deserve our love, compassion, kindness and respect.

My well worn glasses. Traces of glue can be seen on the edge of the lens on the left. At one point the glass fell out when I lifted the glasses from the table.
For the photo, I placed the glasses on a mirror and used a small ring light from the left.
