Day 2 - August 9 - 3.24pm
Meanwhile, over in Chaoyang District, some construction workers are wondering what to do next now that all of the building sites have closed down for the Olympics, and a certain photographer is concluding that he is unable to go two weeks without photographing the CCTV tower.
The picture was taken from Gabtoli Nodi Ghat. From 4:00 AM to 8:30 PM, many workers are busy with various tasks. They earn 1,000 taka per day. Their main job is to unload cement bags from ships onto trucks. Around 20 cement ships are unloaded every day.
At Gabtoli Nodi Ghat, the workers start their day early, enduring long hours until late in the evening. Despite the demanding schedule, they persevere to earn a living for themselves and their families.
Their primary task involves lifting heavy cement bags from the ships and transferring them onto waiting trucks. This process repeats multiple times throughout the day as numerous ships arrive to unload their cargo.
Despite the challenging nature of their work, these workers continue to toil tirelessly, motivated by the prospect of earning a modest income to support their households. Each cement bag lifted represents another step towards their daily wage of 1,000 taka.
Gabtoli Nodi Ghat buzzes with activity as the workers labor diligently, ensuring that the flow of goods continues uninterrupted. Their efforts contribute to the smooth operation of the port, facilitating the distribution of essential materials like cement throughout the region.

I've heard a lot about "worker bees", but I don't think I've photographed one before. I was inspired by the macro workshop that I attended this weekend to go out in the garden and photograph the bees who are busy working the bottlebrush blossoms. I took quite a few pictures and this is the only one in which I got a sharp face. I'm so glad not to be paying for film anymore.
I used my 300mm lens with a 1.4 TC, so it wasn't a true macro, but it did let me get pretty close.
