D-Day - 80 years ago today - Despite there being no other British daily national newspaper so passionately opposed to Hitler throughout the 1930s and 1940s, the Daily Worker was the only national newspaper barred from having a D-Day correspondent.

Imagine the smell of a combination of urine, animal feces and decaying flesh, with a flavour of mint you keep under your nose as a "gas mask"!
Oh yes, I'm a happy worker! It used to be that an employer had to do a background check on you themselves before you got hired, on your credit and criminal record, but also if they were really nosy, on your private life. Now, thanks to the Santa Barbara startup company Social Intelligence Corporation, it will do the research about you for the company. In other words, they have voluntarily become a tool of Big Brother and have sold us all out. They search your Youtube, Flickr, Facebook and other media looking for personal information about your private life, such as political bent, sexual orientation and interests, biases, religion, and anything else they think a potential employer might be interested in. It is the fine people at Social Intelligence Corp. who help decide your career, people who obviously must have no personal life, creativity or humanity because they were screened themselves before being hired at Social Intelligence Corp.
When an employer finds out something about you, you will be informed of it. You can then remove the offending photo, video or comment, but Social Intelligence Corp. will still keep it on file for seven years.
This photo has been edited for possible offending objects and associations and thus would hopefully (it's up to Social Intelligence Corp.) be of no interest to any hiring body.

Just glad my arse did not get swiped by a bus or cab while I took several to get the comp of the worker and the cross :)
Last weekend I found this man working. He was welding this old pulley at the old whaling port in Whalefjord (Hvalfjordur). The pulley is used to pull whales up on to the pier. Plans are to reopen the whaling port since it has been decided to restart whaling. Overpopulation is now a problem for many whale species and it is causing a great deal of food competition between all the different animals in the ocean.
One of the whaling ships is ready to go hunting and has the harpoon loaded. The Icelandic Parliament is going to agree to new whaling regulations and we are ready to go. After the Japanese heard that Iceland is going to restart whaling they have been coming over to purchase the prospective catch. They have purchased all our catch for the next few years. To be honest, I really don't care much for whale meat but when I was a boy I often went to grandmother's and had a good whale steak.
Expecting and nursing mothers require social protection but workers in the informal economy are often not covered. Maternity protection has been a primary concern of the ILO since its creation in 1919. Workplace support for mothers who are breastfeeding has been a basic provision of maternity protection.
The Philippines expanded maternity leave benefits in 2019 to align with international labour standards. The ILO also promoted exclusive breastfeeding in the workplace to advance women’s rights to maternity protection and to improve nutrition security for Filipino children.
