Confocal microscopy! These are thymocytes I induced to go into apoptosis (programmed cell death) by irradiation.
Blue = TO-PRO-3, a nuclear dye
Red = annexinV, a marker of early apoptotic cells
Green = our transgenic autoantibody, which we are trying to characterize

One day, I got back from work with the sky having weird shades of blue. I rushed home, grabbed my camera and tripod and ran down to the seaside and started framing and clicking.
One of my favorites things to look at is the lightning bolt and trying to capture that (now that I have a DSLR) was something exciting.
I tried, some attempts were kind of successful. I was upset because of two shots that could have been super amazing. One with the bolt on on the extreme right, and the other with the bolt striking so bright making my photo overexposed.
Better luck next time i guess.

Manhattan’s familiar street grid is a work in progress, an evolving creation that began with a bold vision by the city’s commissioners in 1811, but which has been altered and amended by generations of planners, builders, and advocates. What mark will future architects, private developers, and city officials leave on the grid? What new kinds of buildings will they construct within its blocks, and what new ways will they devise for organizing its streets?
To answer these questions, the Architectural League of New York, in partnership with the Museum of the City of New York and Architizer, issued a Call for Ideas inviting architects and urban designers to speculate about how Manhattan’s grid might be adapted, extended, or transformed in the future. The Unfinished Grid: Design Speculations for Manhattan presents the eight winning projects, all of which offer provocative ideas for the future of the city.
The Unfinished Grid is made possible with support from the J. Clawson Mills Fund of the Architectural League. Additional support is provided by Walter and Judy Hunt. Media sponsorship was provided by Architizer.
Members of the jury for the Call for Ideas were: Amale Andraos, Hilary Ballon, Rosalie Genevro, Sarah Henry, Wendy Evans Joseph, Marc Kushner, Mark Robbins, Gregory Wessner, and Sarah Whiting.
Summary of Strengthfinder Results. Each young persons took the Gallup assessment and received a report on their top strengths. They then worked with Purposeful Seed to unpack their report and top strengths.
This is the result of the third photo task during my visit to Lone Pine Koala Sanctuary yesterday. Goal, to photograph kangaroos drinking from under the water, using the little waterproof DMC-FT3.
The task was especially difficult yesterday. Being a hot day, meant that several ducks decided to swim in the kangaroos drinking water. Result - very dirty water which made a tough task for the little camera which seemed to focus on the floating debris instead of the kangaroo.
Not being able to see through the view finder means composition in guess work.
