for Macro Mondays:leaf
Started with a recently acquired croton in a pot, made a macro and then remembered the leaf 'frame mask' on FastStone. It all carried on over several days and I am pleased to be retired!
The morning SAD Kzug from Meran to Innsbruck is just departed from the Brenner station heading northbound pulled by the OBB Rh1216.019 "Achensee". (28/9/16)
I am playing along with the Macro Mondays group and the theme of "eye". I made a deal with my model for her to pose for me so now I am off to work on helping with her chores.
Another photo from the secret garden in Kemerton, I took this view a couple of months ago with far less vegetation and only one wheelbarrow. Spring has Sprung!

Windows are an important part of street photography for me. On the one hand, there are the interesting reflections, but also the confusion that sometimes arises and has to be resolved first. On Friday I took a group of work colleagues up Scafell Pike. Just like the rest of my summer hikes the weather was once more poor. The one chink in its armour was when I left the rest of them taking a breather by a shelter and took a detour to the summit of the Great End to check out the cliff top views. The triangular patch of water seen way below is Sprinkling Tarn and our ascent route via Grains Ghyll is seen to its right.
Funny how it seems that though we should be trying to prop each other up and form a community there's usually someone working against others. Someone who feels like they aren't getting what they deserve or jealous or just downright ugly in their soul. Keep you head up and keep pushing forward, recognize your gains and be humble enough to recognize your deficits. Never let anyone else convince you that you aren't enough.

With the primary grade crossings in Titusville now clear of snow and ice, 3568 continues on to work customers on the east side of town.

Once the latest-and-greatest, premier intermodal train power on the BNSF, the Dash 9s have since been demoted to more mundane tasks. Warbonnet #773 is seen at University with USTAEDU5-10A, almost blocking our view of an out-bound grainer leaving Northtown Yard.
One of my favorite views on my way to and from work. Unfortunately now, only a week later, it's much more drab and bare. Ah well, at least I have this pic...

Iowa Interstate uses their Jordan Spreader to work the south side ditch along the mainline between Silvis and Carbon Cliff, IL.
IAIS 714 piloted the train due to the lengthy deadhead from Silvis to Bureau after this work was done.

Venice, Italy: Gondoliers earning their living with showing their city to tourists from all over the world in a gondola.
Work 5999 is stopped and taking lunch at the Sainte-Catherine Station after ditching along the south track of the Adirondack Sub from Adirondack Jct. The consist is spreader CP 402898, CP 5999 and CMQ 9020. In the distance some CP employees check out the recently ditched right of way.
After being out a while this morning, I was alerted to this eastbound work train Amtrak was to take on their line towards Michigan City. The overpass is the location of NS's CP502 on their Chicago Line.
Now that winter has waned I may be one of the few around here to lament that. So here is a shot from a cold day several months back that I like as it captures a bit of everything: the classic local freight, the human element, the interesting interconnected track work, 'heritage' New England colors, and that wintery feel.
After NECR 611 got out of their way headed north the Mass Central Railroad local crew alighted from their single unit to line the switch at the south end of their property to enter the interchange track and swing east down to the small yard to drop off and pick up interchange to/from CSXT on this chilly afternoon. GP38-2 1751 (ex PC 7997 blt 7/72) looks sharp in her Boston and Maine inspired bluebird scheme that has has some historic relevance to a small portion of surving B&M trackage operated by the road though most of the line is comprised of the surviving south end of the former Boston and Albany Ware River branch that reached north from here to Winchendon.
