This the Alpha Female Wolf taking food from another wolf. She would stand over them showing her dominance and then just take the food. Two of eight wolves in a pack at the Haliburton Forest, where the captive wolves roam a 15 acre wooded enclosure and human contact is minimal.

Der Wolf bewohnt in vielen Unterarten die Nordhalbkugel in der alten und neuen Welt, von der Arktis bis in die gemäßigten und trockenen Gebiete. In Deutschland wurde dieses "fürchterliche Untier" schon im 19. Jahrhundert ausgerottet. Nur vereinzelt kommen Wölfe in besonders harten Wintern von Osten herübergewandert. Innerhalb eines Wolfrudels besteht eine ausgeprägte Sozialordnung mit einem Leitwolf und einer Leitwölfin. Sie bilden meist das einzige fortpflanzungsfähige Paar. Besonders zur Zeit der Ranz im Februar/März muß das stärkste Paar seine Vorrangstellung den anderen Rudelmitgliedern gegenüber unter Beweis stellen.
In einem Wolfsrudel bringt in der Regel nur das ranghöchste Weibchen Junge zur Welt. Diese Tatsache, verbunden mit einer relativ hohen Sterblichkeit der Jungwölfe in der Natur, trägt zu einer Art "Geburtenkontrolle" bei.
Heute gilt es als erwiesen, dass einzig und allein der Wolf die Stammart unserer Haushundrassen ist, obwohl immer noch die Meinung vertreten wird, auch der Goldschakal sei ein Stammvater unserer Haushunde.

They were on the other side of a chain link fence and this was the best I could do for a clear shot of them. Most of the time we were there they were racing around playing and just having a great time. They were keeping their eye on us though...
