On one of the lowest tides of the year I went out and did a little exploring in some areas that are otherwise not accessible on a regular tide. As i was making my way back around all the rocks I found this nice area where the water was coming in pretty strong and I still had plenty of room to work and have a safe zone. Here I am standing Knee deep on a sandbar photographing the incoming water. Contrast and Saturation added.

It always amazes me that this lake's only source of water is the precipitation that falls within the rim of the caldera. Never get tired of seeing that blue.
Wizard Island was created after Mount Mazama erupted violently approximately 7,700 years ago, forming its caldera which now contains Crater Lake. Following the cataclysmic caldera-forming eruption, a series of smaller eruptions over the next several hundred years formed several cinder cones on the caldera floor. The highest of these cones, the only one to rise above the current lake level, is Wizard Island, which rises over 2,700 feet (820 m) above the lowest point on the caldera floor and the deepest point in the lake.

Crater Lake National Park
Crater Lake is a caldera lake in south-central Oregon in the western United States. It is the main feature of Crater Lake National Park and is famous for its deep blue color and water clarity. The lake partly fills a nearly 2,148-foot (655 m) deep caldera that was formed around 7,700) years ago by the collapse of the volcano Mount Mazama. There are no rivers flowing into or out of the lake; the evaporation is compensated for by rain and snowfall at a rate such that the total amount of water is replaced every 250 years. With a depth of 1,949 feet (594 m), the lake is the deepest in the United States.

My wife has a wonderful collection of "The Enchanted World" it is a series of twenty-one books published in 1984-1987. Each book focused on different aspects of mythology, fairy tales or folklore, and all were released by Time-Life Books

Milkyway over Crater Lake on the Forth of July. It was a cold and windy forth with a lot of cloud movement. It did clear enough to capture the Milkyway. The orange glow on the clouds is light pollution from the Crater Lake Lodge.
Voigtlander Heliar 15mm F4.5 Aspherical III, four shot pano. Think this lens is a little too slow and noisy for MW shots.
Bug in the Sony A7R2 list the last lens used when switching to manual, non-electrical lens.

I have never tried to image this interesting nebula, so I gave it a try. Unfortunately I had terrible guiding with elongated stars. But for me it was worth the try!

The great disappointment in our trip was the wildfire smoke. You can't see the beautiful blue color of the lake in this shot.
