The fire department and police closed a section of street in front of my house for a few hours because a wire was down across the road. Fortunately - it was in the middle of the night.. it would have been a big mess if it had happened during the day.

This picture was a bit too blurry - so I turned it into art by running it through a 'paint daub ' filter in Photoshop.

Feb 4: Decided to make new sheaves with aluminum tires sporting much deeper grooves. The nylon ones were 1/2 in. dia with a groove approx .020 in. deep. These are 5/8 in. dia with grooves .085 in. deep, yielding an o.d. that's about the same as the old system but which grips the wire's sides much better.

Bundles have been set up on the disk and a few stops of the braid begun.

Next time, I would cut any stray wires down to the beginning twist.

Spinning burning wire wool to create falling 'sparks' of light. It's a really cool effect - look it up (and be safe, don't attempt without proper safety equipment etc.)
