The western pygmy blue is one of the smallest butterflies in the world and the smallest in North America. This one is less than 1/4 inch (0.635cm).
They move so fast. This one was very uncooperative and didn't stay in one place for long.

This big, long-legged hawk is easily identified in flight by its large head and white patches at the ends of its rounded wings.

I really wasn't going to post this, as nothing is really in focus, but I decided I liked the sense of extreme motion of the wings. It is purely the result of a too slow shutter speed and what I think is some serious rolling shutter effect from the fully electronic silent shutter used in this shot.

Deep inside I believe in the end we are all one. But at the moment my confidence has reached such a low point that I am not able to create anything and that makes me feel pretty useless. My inner demons are too strong right now because I'm working on things of the past to feel better in the here and now and future
Most of the time when I go out to shoot I meet lovely people. This was taken at the forest in Groesbeek, nearby Nijmegen. Sitting on a bench and enjoying the view together with a lovely woman. I treasure these moments.
Sometimes it's hard to be alone and on my own.

Two of Pretty Boy's progeny sit on a fallen branch, waiting for mom to arrive with food (see previous post). A third was nearby, either up in a tree or in a ditch across the road. These cute, baby mountain bluebirds fledged two or three days prior to my getting this shot. They could fly, but were still fairly clumsy. At one point, the two siblings shifted down the branch, with one trying to land on top of the other.

At long last, I captured a Long-tailed Pea Blue Butterfly with wings opened ! They are very shy little Butterflies which fly away or try hiding from you as soon as you get close to them. This one remained with its gorgeous wings opened long enough for this capture :)
