A scarlet macaw just landing. This beauty is member of the falconry of Birdpark Walsrode. It is such a touching view to see the parrots fly free in the sky, and also I found it amazing how trustful they return later to their people.

Their lives brushed ours like passing wings: soft, invisible, unforgettable. You never saw them in person, but your heart knows what it felt every time you read their comments on your photos. Like butterflies with broken wings, shining in their brevity, they still take flight.
And although your friends are no longer within your reach, they have been etched in the quiet corners of your soul. Every echo of kindness in their written messages, every feeling of being known without ever having met us, remains.

This photo, taken November 6, 2021, documents the presence of wildflowers and butterflies in late fall in the McInnis Canyons National Conservation Area in western Colorado. The most abundant flowers were on on rabbitbrush, Chrysothamnus nauseosus. I saw dozens of clouded sulphur butterflies, Colias philodice on rabbitbrush in the 3 balmy days that I was there. This photo shows the only sunflower blossom that I saw in 3 days.
For reasons that I do not understand, I was never able to get a view of the dorsal surface of the wings, so the butterflies might have been orange sulphurs, Colias erytheme.
As I was traveling to this area, I expected to see only dried flowers and no insects. What a pleasant surprise!

This Blue Tit at RSPB Dove Stone (Binn Green) seems to have mastered the art of flying without wings!
Across the stone, the river glides along,
A flash of white, a shadow swift and strong.
The great bald eagle, master of the air,
Beats wings that stretch to span the granite there.
A low and measured flight, a silent sweep,
Above the churning water running deep.
With eyes that scan the surface, sharp and cold,
A wingspan wide, a freedom to behold.

As always, thank you for all the views, faves and comments!
A female hummingbird sampling the flowers at the Desert Botanical Garden in Phoenix yesterday. I'm not positive the species. The females are so hard to tell, apart for me. In that same spot yesterday I saw males of the species Costa's Hummingbird, Anna's Hummingbird and black-chinned hummingbird.
NOt the best of days for a drive. These two were running and running around the pasture. There was fog and rain to contend with but it was fun watching them and the others run
Cloudy skies casting an unexpected purplish tint - and the impending rain - didn't stop this White-faced Ibis from showing off its beautiful rainbow wings as it emerged from the water.
Thank you for your visits, comments and faves! They are very appreciated! 😉
A juvenile Green Heron displays perfect form as it flies past in front of the photographer. I especially like how the bird's two legs are almost perfectly aligned in this moment, making only the near leg visible. Just a glimpse of the hidden leg's backside claw is visible on the zoomed-in view.

I went to check up on the piping plovers today and they are doing well! The chick has grown since last week and here it is flapping its little wings! Piping plovers are on the threatened species list!

Wings of Windows old building with some dramatic architectural designs, the windows and carved wings attracted my eye, shot in North Carolina.
With limited time today it was into the garden for some wings! This fly obliged by catching the sunlight with its wings
Happy Wing Wednesday!
This one was taken in my front yard. When I saw this image, I couldn't believe, that even with the fast action of the wings, its head still stayed nicely focused....
Thank you for visiting my stream, your nice comments, and invitations. I really appreciate it.
Have a wonderful weekend everybody:)
