Happiness is finding in the woods the first flowers of spring this year, the snowdrops. Its petals look like little wings that seem to want to provide the peace☮ we need right now.

“A loving heart, determination, faith, courage, trust, belief, truth, and a solid soul create the wings with which we fly.”

― A.D. Posey

Butterflies can't see their wings. They can't see

how beautiful they are, but everyone else can.

People are like that.

The anhinga, sometimes called snakebird or darter, is a water bird of the warmer parts of the Americas. Unlike ducks, ospreys and pelicans which coat their feathers with oil from their uropygial gland, the anhinga does not have waterproof feathers. Their feathers get soaked upon immersion in water. Therefore, they cannot stay floating on water for long periods of time. The anhinga cannot fly with wet feathers. If it attempts to fly while its wings are wet, the anhinga has difficulty, flapping vigorously while "running" on the water. Like cormorants, the anhinga stands with wings spread and feathers fanned open in a semicircular shape to dry its feathers and absorb heat. They face away from the sun to dry their feathers.

Madidi is a national park in the upper Amazon river basin in Bolivia. It has an area of 18,958 square kilometres, and, along with the nearby protected areas Manuripi-Heath, Apolobamba, and (across the border in Peru) the Manu Biosphere Reserve, Madidi is part of one of the largest protected areas in the world.

“To be an angel, one need not have wings.

In giving love there is an equal grace.

Nor need one seek the aura in the face,

As love unveils the beauty of all things.”

While photographing Least Tern chicks of all ages on the sandy beach near Bonita Springs I saw the young one trying out it’s newly forming wings. They look like angle wings.

Thanks for all the support, for more pictures and information see blog. Happy weekend all!

It was a windy day and the dragonfly was clinging tightly to the branch as it vibrated back and forth. I fired a burst of shots and later merged them in Photoshop to create this image for Wing Wednesday, with added toning applied.

Landing barn owl. Wings like an angel...

In the Children's Garden at Dauset Trails there are many wonders to see, from the great variety of flowers, which changes season to season, to all the winged wonders who visit all those varied flowers.

Our second destination at Dauset Trails was the Children's Garden. There were plenty of these Eastern Tiger Swallowtail butterflies flitting about. I just love all those wonderful colors on their wings!

Not disappointed at Dauset Trails.

This week has proved challenging... There was time for nothing. I will however make it my duty to catch up with you all THIS weekend!

To those I am yet to visit, I hope the New Year has kicked off on a high note for you! Happy 2014 :)

Windmill in The Detmold Open Air Museum

The LWL-Freilichtmuseum in Detmold is a great place to learn and experience the world of our ancestors. The open-air-museum is covered with buildings, tools, animals and plants of countryside life in Northwest Germany in the last couple of centuries. An endless source of inspiration for HDR photography.

and just at the moment when i was falling i spread my wings and took flight

Justo en el momento en que caía extendí mis alas y tomé vuelo

It must be the last flower photo for now.

Hey, I'm not a flower store or something. ;)

Try this ..... I honestly have no idea what flower this is. Its center looks like a cluster of small transparent insect wings when you look closely.
