A tale of two technologies.
When the phone company replaced our old modem with a modem/router, I turned our Asus router into a repeater, but in order to find it on our network at the time to make changes, I needed to install some discover software. Oddly, it only works on my old Dell laptop.
The surface on the right could easily run a half dozen of the laptops on the left in emulators that would be faster than the original.
But it can't find our repeater so that I can change the settings.
The old Dell is holding on pretty good for a 13-year-old computer. Hopefully it has a few more years in it.

In 1993, when I was 7yo and used my family's Am386-based PC, this Intel Compute Stick is exactly what I imagined how a PC would be in the future...
I bought this Intel Compute Stick (STK1AW32SC) because I needed something to replace my old WDTV HD media player, and for 110 USD, buy this Compute Stick was a no-brainer.
Of course this Stick is not intended to be used as a regular PC, but I had to use it as my main PC for a month and its quad-core Atom CPU managed to do everything I needed, including edit photos on PaintShop Pro and re-encode videos on Handbrake. Now I have my main PC back and the Stick is behind the TV again, and I became a fan of this Stick.
For a thing that is smaller than a remote control and costs 110 USD including the Windows 10 license, I can't imagine any PC better than this when versatility comes to mind.
Kudos to Intel, to bring such a competent product to the market.

I went digging through my files and found a few that I'd like to re-post. And this is one of them. I believe we are sitting at the Bar of the Andrea Hotel, which is right on the water.

the time for upgrade to Windows 10 expired but it has ben running since many hours before it did. Now I keep it running, curious but little hopeful that it will succeed. Upgrade process had been stuck at 99% since 2 hours before the clock went down to 0

Thanks to the 'efficient' Correios (Brazilian Postal Company), the Micro SD Card I bought from an eBay seller from HK was delivered after just 129 days.
The 32GB of internal storage is enough to keep this Intel Compute Stick (STK1AW32SC) running as a web browsing Windows 10 PC and occasional Media Player and nothing more, so this Samsung 64GB Micro SD Card is a much needed addition, specially for emulation and torrenting uses.
