Situated in a large window seat at the library. Shot with just the available light. The window is obviously on the left. My DIY reflector is on the right for fill.
Looks like he is trying to forget that I was there.

My suitcase has been my companion lately. I love when we check into the hotel & find our room. Once I find the spot to set her down, I can almost hear a deep breathe ooze out of the zipper. My body feels it too & pours itself onto the couch. The knots created by the long drive begins to loosen & the once lumpy couch turns into goose down. Together, we watch unfamiliar local news & stare at the clock until the phone dials home.

seems like the more you grow
the more time you spend alone.
before you know it you end up perfectly on your own.
the city's shining bright,
but you don't see the light.
how can you concentrate on things that don't make you feel right?
i just want to feel all right.
the times you don't wanna wake up
'cause in your sleep it's never over when you give up.
the sun is always gonna rise up.
you need to get up, gotta keep your head up.
look at the people all around you:
the way you feel is something everybody goes through.
dark out, but you still gotta lie up.
you need to wake up, gotta keep your face up.

i have barely done any work for myself this summer. i shot two weddings, and did some work for my church metro praise (which just happens to be on the door of our new building and framed hanging in the halls), but that's about it. truthfully, recent happenings have made me want to throw in the towel, but there is light at the end of the tunnel -- my Jesus.
self portrait taken a while back, scanned from a scratched and dusty agfa slide on a mikrotek scanner.
Just a few moments of quiet time in her world. A few moments of play and imagination. Where her heart can dream and her mind can take her to those magical places. Where technology is not feeding her brain but she's using those creative muscles to create her world. Just love little girl play time.
This was taken in my studio at my house. My studio being a large bow window with plantation shutters, a kitchen chair, a silver/white reflector, and black poster board.
I kept the poster board in the shadow while I placed the violin in the window light. I exposed for the bridge, then reduced it by one stop. I sacrificed some color in the foreground, but it got my background totally black.
When or if I do it again, I think I will try for some more depth-of-field so at least the start of the fingerboard is in focus. Other than that, I am quite pleased with the way this one turned out.
