I was walking in Alfama when my attention was caught by a couple of murals in a tight alley that looked more like a path between buildings. Except for the reason on the right side there wasn't that much but rubble. After taking a couple of photos of the nice murales i kept going in the same direction. I was a bit surprised when I realized the path ended with a large wooden gate, e just next to that 3 elders where having a drink like they were in an inner court. Only days after I realized the rubble on the right side, the little court and the gate were meaning than in previous times what is now a path was once a probably huge building. Talk about regeneration, here.
But at the time the main surprise was for me seeing people. many of them just tourists like me, walking across the gate. I obviously decided to follow their example and... I found myself in another tight street leading, like most of them in Alfama, to the Castelo de Sao Jorge.
Still puzzled by a gate separating two streets or paths, i saw a young guy opening a door and entering the building. My eyes moved up, to the window exactly above that door, and what you see in these photo is what I saw then.
I always had a sympathy for decadent buildings, but I love as well when someone's imagination set that decadence alive again :)

Suddenly went back to my childhood singing the playground song,
“In and out the bluebell windows,
In and out the bluebell windows,
All day long.”
This window frame was brought back from the Loire Valley by Nicola Thompson, the owner, and placed between two trees in her bluebell woodland. It started life as the only window in the bread house for a house on the road to Santiago Spain.
I was on lunch today and walked past this abandoned house which I have never noticed before (photography is really helping me take FAR more notice of my surroundings).
The house is a light green colour and it has these lovely red faded wooden window shutters with hearts carved out of them and paint peeling off, it has such a lot of character despite being somewhat run down. I don't know how long this house has been abandoned but most of the windows are either smashed or boarded up.
I wasn't able to get any closer to get a better angle as it is private property so instead I was stood at the front gate leaning in as best I could trying to get a shot of the shutters. Ideally I would have preferred to get a straight-on shot but I simply couldn't pass up the opportunity to take a picture, it's just a shame the sky was so bland.
Shaken not stirred.
The Water Poet pub, closed down April 2019 the area will now forcibly be demolished for office space.

I spent a couple of days on Mount Rainier relaxing with my camera. This photo was taken on my last day there, June 20, which is also the last day of Spring.
It snowed the night before, leaving us with 4 inches (10 cm) of snow on the ground.
This view is from the dining room of the Paradise Lodge.
I tried to capture some of the wavy artifacts from the old-fashioned glass used in the windows, but I don't think it comes out.
Alkaline is a band from Amersfoort consisting of three members; guitarist Jelle Koller, singer and bassist Sem Hartogsveld. Jelle came up with the idea of starting his own band after high school, and he needed several people for this. He knew Sem from the school band and drummer Kevin Dohmen joined later. They mainly play Punk & Rock music.

Returned to this spot on a foggy day to catch a bleak view of New York City. Darker than the other photo I posted of this scene, everything is slightly off angle. Also ... the dark hollow windowframes add to the mood. This is 32nd street taken from above Penn Station.

I'm off on my holidays for a fortnight tomorrow - if you see me on Flickr it's either because it's raining in Thailand or the kids have banished me to my room! (They know who's boss!).
Has anyone else noticed the persistent 'hiccups' on Flickr at the moment? I wanted to post another science lesson but (you'll be pleased to know) it just would not make it so here's a shot from one of my favourite coffee shops in Reigate's old town hall.
(Thanks to Gerry for the title).

This beautiful cat can often be seen sunbathing in the window of its home here in Ipswich! It always brings us such joy to see it sitting there! And we remain puzzled about how it gets up there and stays balanced there!!!!
