I loved the old glass in the windows that distorted the reflections.

Spring 2016

I took a shot from my friends window in Autumn 2015 when I stayed while on holiday. Then when I was back at the beginning of Spring 2016 I couldn't resist taking another. Their view is so good, and the Kowhai tree looked AMAZING in full flower :-)

HAPPY WINDOW WEDNESDAY(S) !!

December midday sun created attractive warm tones and strong shadows on a beautiful old building, Caserne Lefebvre. I have taken several photographs of it, and parts of it, and have posted some previously on Flickr.

Caserne Lefebvre is an historic French Army barracks. In recent years it was beautifully restored on the outside. I know that it has been renovated inside too, but I have never been inside. I understand that some of it has been converted to rental apartments, and there probably other uses of the internal space too.

In any case, as shown, it appears that there is lots of freedom of choice regarding internal window decor. BTW, for ESLs, "window dressing" is an interesting idiom in English.

Location: Caserne Lefebvre, Mulhouse, Alsace FR.

1 Peter 2:6-8

New King James Version

6 Therefore it is also contained in the Scripture,

“Behold, I lay in Zion

A chief cornerstone, elect, precious,

And he who believes on Him will by no means be put to shame.”

7 Therefore, to you who believe, He is precious; but to those who are disobedient,

“The stone which the builders rejected

Has become the chief cornerstone,”

8 and

“A stone of stumbling

And a rock of offense.”

They stumble, being disobedient to the word, to which they also were appointed.

I shoot in the big bay window that faces south and catches the morning sunshine, but I don't often photograph the actual windows at all! But looking at some of the beautiful window shots on Flickr, especially with reflections in the glass, I've started to collect together the occasional shots that caught my eye, and to add new ones. So I stalk round the house looking for interesting images ... ;o)

This one was taken last year when the barley was golden across the howe on the far hillside.

Happy Window Wednesdays ;o)

My Windows and Walls set: Here

A barn owl perched in an old window frame

The lichen in an old quarry windowframe. Behind are shards of 'old' glass in the wooden flame which seem to have been discoloured by the lichens

While at Edwards Gardens in Scarborough On. I came upon this concrete window. Well opportunity knocks at every corner, so keeping in mind of a window frame, I photographed these flowers in the concrete frame. I liked the way it turned out.

Maybe a little TLC.??

Edited this morning in Photoshop and the Viveza plug-in and then in Alien Skin Exposure X for black and white editing.

The wall was a pale lemon yellow (a popular color in Europe) with weathered chipping and windows with bright reflections or deeply shaded. The pear tree dark green, the bench where paint remind was a jade green.

Happy Window and Wall Wednesday to the stalkers of those and happy mid week to the rest of you.

I had fun watching her playing with her kitchen set while her parents looked on with obvious delight. Yes, I needed help getting out:-)

A boarded up window in the Scottish harbour of Eyemouth.

I did warn you a a while back that I would show quite a few sunrise pictures from Salalah, Oman. On this day, January 1st, it seems like a good time to add another one.

Of all of my travel memories from last year, one of my favorites was watching the sunrise over the Arabian Sea from my balcony. Never have I had such a beautiful view from a hotel and no where have I been able to hear the fish jumping out of the water and see birds sleeping on buoys and see the sun's rays skip over the silky smooth stillness of the sea.

Thank you for all of the support last year and all of the views and faves. I look forward to seeing all of your new great images in 2015. I am headed back to Africa in March to Botswana and the Seychelles, a trip I have been hoping to make for quite a few years.

A reminder that all of my images are copyrighted and are not for your use in any way unless you contact me. Thank you so much for your visits and comments.

The theme for "Looking Close on Friday" for the 18th of August is "soap foam". Even before the advent of the Coronavirus pandemic, I was always a fastidious handwasher: something drilled into my daily routine by my grandparents when I was child. Therefore, to whip up some delicate foam from my current bar of lily-of-the-valley hand soap was a pleasure to do for the sake of the theme! I hope you like my choice for this week’s theme, and that it makes you smile.
