Checking the Magic Boxes at Totton

The Metropolitan Borough of Shoreditch, in east London, existed between 1900 and 1965 – and today I really enjoyed seeing one of the original street signs still in place, reminding passers-by of bygone times. Shoreditch (which of course existed for centuries before the metropolitan borough) is now part of the London Borough of Hackney.

'When will you pay me?' say the bells of Old Bailey.

'When I grow rich', say the bells of Shoreditch...

The photo was taken yesterday, just before I went for a sick colleague on the night shift.

The free week was no free week.

All of you good weather, by me it is raining lightly at the moment.:-(

Near Renfrew in Ontario, Canada, there is a ghost town named Balaclava. It use to be a saw-mill town. We decided to visit the place and take a few shots. I got myself shooting mostly windows and old wood and paint textures.

Unfortunately, one of the buildings has a sign on it saying that a permit was requested to destroy the general store building to transform it into a commercial lot.

Most of the shots got re-worked with Topaz Adjust 3 to enhance the colors and contrast.

Enjoy,

Having some fun on the Magic Boxes at Totton

Taken in Parma, Italy on my Contax G1 camera and 45mm Zeiss lens. Ilford HP5+ film.

I think the Magic Boxes are rocking a bit!

During the last Street Hunt I found myself walking outside of one of Rethymno's coffee shops. I had noticed that there was a lonely man in the shop, drinking a coffee by the window. So, I thought that it would be a good idea to walk up to him and take his portrait through the glass. It only lasted a few seconds. As you can see there is quite a bit of reflection but I really enjoyed making this photograph. It was a cold blooded shot! Snap!

Modern office building glass windows with city reflections, and a beautiful Denver, Colorado blue sky.

Wow, had problems uploading my photos to Flickr this evening! I took this photo just over two years ago, in the Butterfly House in the old Conservatory at the Calgary Zoo. I don't usually see this species, so wanted to post it for my Zoo Set. Isn't it a gorgeous shade of blue?

I am completely (and I mean completely, lol) exhausted after a botanizing trip from 7:00 a.m. this morning till getting home about 6:15 p.m. just a short while ago. This was a repeat trip of a hike we did a year ao, right on the edge of the eastern Rocky Mountains, right where Kananaskis begins on Highway 40. Climbing up hills and down, up and down. My toes are now the most painful part of my body, from hiking downhill so much. The main purpose of the trip was to see Balsamroot plants high on a hillside. This is the most northerly reported location for this species. And we saw a Morel mushroom, which made my day - possibly a False Morel? Weather was beautiful - rain in the forecast for the next few days. Thanks, David, for another great outing to this area - and thanks so much for the ride there and back! Job very well done!! I have to add that I'm sure I any calories I lost on the hike were surely put back on when I had a delicious Chocolate Malt when we stopped in Longview on the way home. Thanks (?), Sandy, for telling me how good they are and leading me into temptation, ha!

Janela manuelina em cantaria de granito, integrada numa casa do núcleo histórico de Linhares da Beira (Celorico da Beira), uma das “Aldeias Históricas de Portugal”. O enquadramento, datável do início do séc.

A Manueline-style window made of granite masonry, set in a house in the historic center of Linhares da Beira (Celorico da Beira), one of the “Historic Villages of Portugal.” The frame, dating from the early 16th century, reflects the late Gothic Manueline style: scalloped and undulating moldings, attached pilasters with carved bases and capitals, and upper finials in the form of pinnacles or foliage—elements that, in addition to their structural function, served as symbols of prestige in an urban context linked to mountain routes and local power. The choice of granite, abundant in the region, necessitated a sculpture with restrained relief yet durable in nature; today, it bears a patina, fissures, and signs of erosion. The painted window frames and glazing are modern adaptations for thermal comfort and protection, while still preserving the appearance of the original opening beneath the traditional ceramic tile cornice.

A romantic evening at home - Turn down the lights and view the beautiful full moon rising whilst you wine and dine and spend a romantic night in your own home.

Open up your house that has no views by placing a window view on your wall.

Adding a window framed image to your wall can create a sense of depth, interest, light and openness to a room, especially a room where there are not many ..... or no windows.

Enjoy the moon by night in your office or living room.

This moon image is also available without the window frame and titled: Moon over Sunset Clouds

Out at the rain from my window.

It snowed for the first time this winter in the Boston suburbs today. This photo is to celebrate! I used Orton on the curtains and window only and sharpened the trees a bit.

This image is part of my Personal Photography Project at Staffordshire University towards my exhibition. The idea behind the project is a voyeuristic idea of looking in on people and their daily lives. Though they may look natural all the scenes are staged.

I'd very much appreciate your thoughts and opinions on this image.
