Cwmorthin Quarry is a slate quarry west of the village of Tanygrisiau, north Wales. Quarrying on the site started in 1810. In 1860 it was connected to the Ffestiniog Railway. In 1900 it was acquired by the nearby Oakeley Quarry and the two were connected underground. In 1970 it closed along with Oakeley. There was small scale working in the 1980s and 1990s, the mine finally closed in 1997.

This picture, which I took on one of my trips to Vietnam, also fits into the series "Window in House Wall". Ho Chi Minh City - the former Saigon - offers a myriad of good such photo motifs. I love going on a photo tour in Ho Chi Minh City.

HWW looking through window

Hard to believe that I have been in this common room at St. Dominic's Retirement Village so many times, and I never even looked up to see this window until our visit last Friday. "Eyes Wide Shut."

If there's one thing I love about France it's the shuttered windows...expect a few more of these! Explore 19.05.08 - No. 133

The Azure Window, also known as the Dwejra Window, was a 28-metre-tall (92 ft) limestone natural arch on the island of Gozo in Malta. It was located in Dwejra Bay, within the limits of San Lawrenz, close to the Inland Sea and the Fungus Rock, and was one of Malta's major tourist attractions. The arch, together with other natural features in the area, has appeared in a number of international films and media productions.

The formation was created by the collapse of a sea cave, probably during the 19th century. It consisted of a pillar of rock rising from the sea and joined to the cliff by a horizontal slab. Following decades of natural erosion that caused parts of the arch to fall into the sea, the slab and pillar collapsed completely in stormy weather on 8 March 2017.
