Thanks so much for the faves and nice comments!

The north rose window at Cathédrale Notre-Dame de Chartres. Dedicated to the Virgin, it is the most detailed of the four rose windows in the cathedral. It is amazing that so many of the magnificent stained glass windows survived both the French Revolution and World War II. Chartres Cathedral was a highlight of our October trip to France.

Happy weekend! Thanks, as always, for stopping by and for your kind comments, awards and faves -- I appreciate them all.

Happy Window Wednesday

After a fun time with some of the family at my daughter's home last evening, heading out soon for more family homes for some good eats and times.

This capture posted here is at my sister's house, there along Middle River. Head there soon for brunch.

Hopefully getting some Christmas photos today with family.

Merry Christmas

A window on the side of an old building in Sham Shui Po, Hong Kong.

It's been lightly photoshopped to bring out the gritty texture, and old, decaying feeling of the area.

Viewed full-size, it has greater impact.

Yesterday walked out to the mailbox. Snow just coming down again. I took a pic of my house. HWW

When you walk the Dubrovnik wall, you are regularly presented with views of this nature. Little snippets of the old town and beyond are presented to you in a beautiful stone framework.

I spotted this window reflecting the sunrise last year, but never got round to uploading it - HWW!

Yarmouth reflected in a window

Windows of Opportunity" have been on my mind a lot. We are tentatively scheduled to take a May tour of Bryce & Zion canyons with Road Scholar in May of 2022. The COVID numbers are rising. If I were in my 40's , I would wait and say that there would be other opportunities "when life becomes more normal (safe)". I am in my mid-70's and healthy. There is still the thought in the back of my mind as to how many windows of opportunity will be in my future. We will decide as the time draws nearer.

I am reflecting, not complaining. We have weathered the pandemic well and our living situation is comfortable. I have also had many opportunities in the past to experience other places. The Irish rover in my genes still longs for a look beyond my present horizon, however, and it's a nagging feeling.

There will be one other post in this "windows of opportunity" series.

“Ma no, anche l’estate, invece, sarebbe tornata immancabilmente, uguale al solito. Non la si può uccidere, essa è un drago invulnerabile che sempre rinasce, con la sua fanciullezza meravigliosa. Ed era un’orrida gelosia che mi amareggiava, questa: di pensare all’isola di nuovo infuocata dall’estate, senza di me!”

― Elsa Morante, L'isola di Arturo

This little collection of windows appears as you approach a turn in the road and always catches my eye so I finally stopped to take a photo.
