We had a great Memorial Day weekend in Holland Michigan. Windmill Island Gardens definitely lives up to its reputation. There were so many different varieties of tulips as well as other flowers.

I found this stubby old windmill on a road out of Boulia, Western QLD. I was a great sky so I couldn't resist a shot!
Wanted to do some long exposures with this windmill, the sky was just not right for it so here's a non long exposure.

The present windmill on Brill Common in Buckinghamshire, was probably erected sometime in the 1680s. Although not quite the oldest windmill in England, it is one of the best preserved of the dozen or so 17th century post-mills still standing. A post-mill is a mill in which the whole structure revolves around a central post in order to face the wind.

Part of the windmill farm on Route 40 between Peoria and Bradford. These two are right off of route 17. Standing here you can hear the "whoosh, whoosh, whoosh" sound as the blades turn.
Bidston Hill is 100 acres (0.40 km2) of heathland and woodland that contains historic buildings and ancient rock carvings. It is located on the Wirral Peninsula, near the Birkenhead suburb of Bidston, in Merseyside, England. With a peak of 231 feet (70 m), Bidston Hill is one of the highest points on the Wirral. The land was part of Lord Vyner's estate and purchased by Birkenhead Corporation in 1894 for use by the public.
Bidston Windmill replaced a wooden mill that was destroyed by fire in 1791,and was used to grind wheat until about 1875. However it is believed that there has been a windmill on this site since 1596. After falling into disuse it was bought and restored in the mid 1890s .
This is one of 75 windmills that are north of Muenster, TX. They are used to supply power to 250 homes. www.kxii.com/home/headlines/17403304.html
They can be seen for miles away and always look much closer than they actually are when your in town. Its amazing that something so large could be moving like a propeller so quickly. There isn't much noise emitted by them either.
It is difficult to convey the height of these without a good size reference, but the trees are a good indicator.
Rusting Windmill without blades in the mist of a Mount Ive Station morning. In South Australia's rugged Gawler Ranges, the sheep station is also a great place for adventurers and nature lovers.
Don't say I don't suffer for my art. In between brief showers of rain, I noticed spectacular sun rays appearing over this windmill, so I grabbed my camera and ran over to catch the moment. Unfortunately, I slipped on a wet wooden step on the dike and crashed down on my lower leg. I've never known pain quite like it, yet I hobbled on with my quest. However, I'd missed the passing rays and was left with the cloud.
The leg is still quite painful. I had it x-rayed yesterday and no breaks were found so I just have to wait for the pain to go. No one understands what we artists suffer.
